Because of Explosive Population Growth Pakistan surpasses Brazil

I read it somewhere Musharraf Govt manipulated populated growth data to make it look like Pakistan's per capita income underwent a rapid growth during his tenure. Is it true??

a large population is an asset as it means more consumers for good. But if the population gets too out of control then there will be problems.
For the people saying that "Pakistan government should control it" The Pakistani government can't even control 1 city, how will they control population growth?

The only solution to this is for a fresh government to put full effort in education and job creation. Educated people tend to have less children and higher standard of living.

Of course this is impossible with Zardari/Nawaz brothers at the helm.

Seems like Pakistanis have nothing else left to do but to create babies-
Soon the illiteracy rate will increase cause i cant see them getting even basic education-

Let all the illiterate people join the army- cause thats where almost all of our budget goes including the Educational budget-

The pop explosion could be due to the power outages in Pakistan! Some years back when there was a power outage in New York for 12 hours, there was a massive increase in the number of births after 9 months!! There isn't really anything else you can do in darkness!!
:smitten:

So's the case in Pakistan. Massive power cuts and no lights means more babies because there isn't really anything else you can do in darkness. Having a roll in the hay is the only entertainment available!! And that ladies and gentlemen leads to a pop explosion!! QED!

Bottom line: Improve the power situation, pronto!! :cheesy: :D

6.8 people in a household, 3.2 average birth rate, 50% urban population living in slums - which means no access to education or basic necessities, 34% added to the population in over a decade - OF COURSE ITS A POPULATION EXPLOSION.

Get proper electricity going, no entertainment in the living room leads to more entertainment in the bed room.

actually overpopulation is the core issue facing humanity. as time progresses, size of the pizza declines and the number of hungry stomachs increase. we've seen glimpses of it at the start of this millennium, but conflict over resources will be far more common. intense and profound when it depletes to the point of unbearably high costs. hate to say this but something slightly more well thought out than the chinese solution may be our best bet.

Congrats. More population means larger economy.

That's such a simplistic comment. Probably Canada for her size and resources is under populated, but India is definitely overpopulated where a large part of population is completely cut off from economic boom and is essentially a drag on the economy (and through democracy on the reform process).

Its just weird to say if Pakistan's population becomes as big as china's, they will become like china. Heck even India can't say that, infact the growing population is an issue as we struggle to push up quality of living, not just size of economy.

they can use the demographic dividend to their advantage if they play their cards right

Amazing,Pakistan will definitely perish one day because of it's huge population growth.

What happens when Pakistan as a nation cannot provide jobs to their young?

what happens when Pakistan cannot provide education, health care and other basic needs for its people?

A trained and skilled Human resource is an asset which takes decades to develop.

But a frustrated people who are poisoned by radical ideology who cannot receive much support from Govt. is a nightmare.

All these points apply to India as well.

its funny that Indian population is already a ticking bomb but Indians would come up with such concernes about others and ignore their own case.

Dude your average children per family is 4 to 5 where as ours is around 2 and we are implementing family planning. The same cannot be said about Pakistan.

Human resources has to be developed over the years.
