If they are not anti western than as far as the west is concerned they are militants not terrorists. Just like the Taliban in the 80s.

I am sure Chinese and Indians would consider them as terrorists. But how can we accept their defenition of a terrorist when their socities are full of injustice and inequality? One must have a moral benchmark before labelling others accurately.

Ancient religions emulated this look and was seen as a sign of medidative transcendance. A rejection of the material realm. The yogis in India being a prime example.

Monotheistic faiths took this forward and adapted it as a sign of masculinity and virility.

My thoughts are the beard was kept in hot non black countries(they struggle to grow facial hair) to prevent sun burn. Simple as that really. Secularism views it as a fashion statement. Funny old world isn't it.

As of that... maintaining it and cleaning regularly is a must...
