BBC Panorama Northern Alliance enters Kabul 2001

I feel for the people of Afghanistan. They don't deserve this violence. Taliban will never ever enter a democratic process as they that the people of Afghanistan will not ever choose them. Would you people who are cheering from them will allow your women, daughters to be uneducated, and suppressed? Total bigots here

The BIGGEST bigots on planet earth are white western troops committing war crimes and murdering afghan civilians:

it takes 100 special forces troops and USAF to beat them in year 2000. it will be the same story in year 2020

You miss the thousands of NA fighters and US bombardments, In reality Taliban knew its stupid to resist and fight cause US has air support and much more fire power, hence they play along with every one, retreat back, turn this war into a waiting game guess we are now seeing the results of it.

Ahmed was backed by Russia? Anyway, can his son survive the taliban? He may not survive tribal politics, and sabotaged by family members/tribesmen. !!

What he shouldn't survive is an assasins bullet.

I meant Ahmed Shah died in 2001.. His son was made leader in 2016/17. So, the previous ones, must have enmity towards him, as they could be elders. Or from a different clan.

.
Make it 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024. the results will be the same

Just be happy it was the Americans. One of these days Afghans will get an exterminator conquering them where the only good Afghans are dead ones

This is the problem with pajeets - you guys pretend to be experts on everything. You can't stick to gobar science or cow lynching, you have to be experts at everything.

The Taliban were not militarily defeated, they did a strategic retreat. They knew they had no answer to USAF so they rolled back and attacked NATO forces using Guerilla tactics - knowing full well this is how they could defeat them. 20 Years later, NATO forces leave humiliated in the dark of the night, knowing they could not defeat the enemy.

The objectives were regime change. They failed, the same regime is back in charge.

The objective was control of Afghan natural resources, they failed, the Taliban never allowed an environment condusive for foreign companies to do so.

The objective was defeating Al Queda - they failed. Al Queda spread across the middle east and North Africa and evolved into ISIS. There are been loads more terror attacks since, they've simply evolved tactics. One would argue pre-911 attacks were in the same model as post 911, with 911 being the anomoly.

I know, my point was that if we think the man could present a threat to our interests in Afghanistan, we ought to be proactive.

There will be no 2022, 2023 and so on. Regional powers have decided to wrap up the presence of extra regional nations from this neighbour. Time is up and game is up. If it was bad for America, its worst for its lapdog India.

Moral of the story is that Americans can't fight a Guerrilla war over a long period. they failed in Vietnam and failed now in Afghanistan.

the other learning is that insurgents like Taliban or ISIS can't fight a conventional war against a much superior army..

with these understanding, one can hope that Talibans will act like good boys from here on..

its much easier to take pot shots on any Taliban trying to govern from city centers rather than picking them in mountains and caves. Now that US has much better drones than 2001, cherry picking will also be very easy ..

.
if only those people who I had a heated argument with in 2001 after the war of terror began.

they were wrong and I was right. little gloating.

Which reality do you live in? From my recollection it took -

  • General Musharaf's 'YES SIR'.
  • Mightest airforce in world - USAF bombing
  • Northern Alliance
  • Most of the world
The tip you mention would have been captured and used as bacha bazi boys until they would have had holes bigger than open mouths.
a Guerrilla war
conventional war
So Taliban lost in the later and USA lost in the former. Now what would happen with both were combined? A guerilla and conventional war combined together?

Yep we faced that in 1971 and lost.

When you lose control of your country and cannot defend your civilians that is a military defeat.
of course the taliban care only for their foreign paymasters not the civilians of Afghanistan

whatever it is - if it needs to be repeated in 2021, 2022 or 2023 it will be repeated

In 2001 Taliban were given 3 days by Pakistan (and most probably US) to leave positions and return to their villages and/or cross into Pakistan. You will find many CNN and BBC news reporting in 2001, stating Taliban simply abandon their position and disappeared overnight. Many went underground waiting for the right time to come back and some switch loyalties for the highest bidder in typical Afghan style. 70% to 80% just disappeared. Pakistan allowed them to cross the border for 3 days before closing the border. Only a small percentage of hardcore stayed behind and did not survive.
