This is the problem with pajeets - you guys pretend to be experts on everything. You can't stick to gobar science or cow lynching, you have to be experts at everything.
The Taliban were not militarily defeated, they did a strategic retreat. They knew they had no answer to USAF so they rolled back and attacked NATO forces using Guerilla tactics - knowing full well this is how they could defeat them. 20 Years later, NATO forces leave humiliated in the dark of the night, knowing they could not defeat the enemy.
The objectives were regime change. They failed, the same regime is back in charge.
The objective was control of Afghan natural resources, they failed, the Taliban never allowed an environment condusive for foreign companies to do so.
The objective was defeating Al Queda - they failed. Al Queda spread across the middle east and North Africa and evolved into ISIS. There are been loads more terror attacks since, they've simply evolved tactics. One would argue pre-911 attacks were in the same model as post 911, with 911 being the anomoly.
I know, my point was that if we think the man could present a threat to our interests in Afghanistan, we ought to be proactive.
