How funny this envoy is comfortably saying Bangladeshis would rather swim to Italy as if Italy has its door open for you guys. Why not try swimming to Pakistan much closer both distance wise and culture wise. It will be easy to mix with their population and live comfortably.

Bangladeshis would rather swim in the ocean and reach Italy than come to India, the country’s outgoing envoy to New Delhi, Syed Muazzem Ali, said in a farewell speech. The Hindu reported Wednesday that Ali said the per capita income in India “is not that high”.

Third world percapita 2000 india is no better then bd or nepal. Hence no one will go to such a dirt poor country for better job. Italy per capita income is 30k plus which make sense why ppl from bd want to swim there alone with ppl from other third world counties like india.

I was in italy once few years back he is right there are thousands mostly from lower middle class Bangladeshi ppl manage to settle there.

Nope. The inflation difference says otherwise. Also correlated to the standards these countries employ regd IMF (SDDS vs GDDS). The more basic your standards, the more inflation you can push.

This is exacerbated by BD over reliance on one export industry which it is hooked on to earn forex (and built up only by having LDC 0 tariff access).

It is not trading much of anything else (thus very limited genuine economic integration and exposure to different world liquidity chains), thus extrapolating that to Taka GDP claim of BD govt is going to be faulty given the lower standards used.

Read above. Having that figure contain 1% relative inflation or 50% relative inflation to world liquidity standard (and shielded by poor economic standard adoption + shielding by grossly limited economic exposure) are VERY different figures in the end.

Remember if this is 0 tariff industry in EU market....and you have very low tariff in US compared to China.....i.e just produce as much you can and market it, people will buy it...yet still you stagnant in it now. Means a crushing ceiling coming into view, and your simplistic thinking and economy is in for some real trouble soon.

Thus whenever BD actually has to deliver the goods past its govt claims....the 50% of GDP = effectively inflation rears its head. So no one gives a shit in the end if your govt says whatever growth rate, given only half of it actually applies in the end (can simply look at what energy you guys consume for example).

As for Nepal, Indian open borders with that country and where a huge bulk of Nepali workers go (and in what scale) given what I said to cities like Delhi says more than anything else can regarding that.
