Bangladesh will give water to India from Feni river

India can blackmail Bangladesh by river water, but only to a certain extent, which Bangladesh is capable to cope with. The biggest leverage India held over Bangladesh is river Teesta. Teesta water flow is not that great, but it flows through the territories in West Bengal and Bangladesh which are dependent on irrigation.
India has no intentions of blackmailing a neighbouring country with a friendly government on something as important as water. As you see, we are forced to bring this up when your fellow forum members openly threaten us regarding the sovereignty of our nation-state. Peaceful coexistence is the bedrock of our Indian culture, so tell your friends here to lay off those insults.
Same is true for Barak river.
While you are right about the Brahmaputra, this doesn't hold true for Surma-Kushiyara. Barak CAN be fully trained by India and embankments built.

Embankment for protecting land from river erosion and flood. I think, you are talking about dam, to produce hydro-electricity. Hydro-electricity dam is not a problem for Bangladesh, as it do not stop river flow, rather release water in controlled manner. Ultimately same amount of water flows through. On the other hand, there is little use of Barak river water for irrigation in 3 Barak valley districts. So you have little use for all those excess Barak river water other than to allow them into Bangladesh for your own good.

Multipurpose dams and reservoirs and yes, that too.

Rivers originate in the highlands of Manipur before passing through Barak and Bangladesh. What you are referring to are known as run of the river projects suitable for small hill streams. For Barak, a proper hydroelectric project with reservoir is envisaged that will effect the water flowing to BD during the lean period of flow. Manipur will benefit hugely from it.

India pisses off BD, it loses NE. Simple as that.
Dude, you should try Stand up comedy!!
PS:- In that case India could literally build a road from WB leading to Meghalaya right thru the heart of BD.

BD dont realize economic freedom emanates from the barrel of a gun. If you cant defend it with force, they will kick you out easily one day.
No one is using force to impose its will on us. You have to realize that there is no military power buildup without economic strength. No economic strength is achieved automatically without business and trade with all countries including our neighbors.

Remember, we import $6billion worth of goods from India. Can it be substituted by, say, Pakistan? It is impossible. You do not have to care who kicks us again after we were already thrown away by west Pakistan in 1971. Just build up your own country without worrying about us. We are doing it successfully and it is better than yours and Indian economic progress.

i wanted to avoid mention of 1971 but unfortunately you started this painful topic.
let me clarify your doubt one by one :
1. A big import bill is useless, You should focus on what you export
2. When it comes to power potential of a nation your country does not even come near Pakistan. Our ONLY problem was our basdart leaders like Bhuttos and Shareefs. Under IK you will see Pakistan rising as a great power in the region. Talk of 6 Billion? I am talking of 60 billion, not with India with China and whole world.
3. We did not throw you away. I accept Bhutto was a traitor. But to join hands with India was your own decision under Sh Mujeeb.
4. Economic progress will become zero the day you tried to take one step independent of India.
Regards
Thank you

Imagine BD stops all transit and all trade with NE.
Imagine if BD allows NE militants to operate freely.
Whole of NE will be in flames.

1) Even for export, we need all kinds of import from China, India as well as Pakistan and other countries. Trucks, buses, railway coaches, three-wheelers and two-wheelers Indian goods are nearby and cheaper. You certainly do not want us to commit mass suicide by not importing from cheap source but from the expensive source like Japan.
2) Pakistan certainly has more potentiality comparing to BD. But, your leaders and generals misappropriated development funds for the military buildup. To cover up the shortfalls, you borrowed from the future. Funds are now less available for public projects and industrial expansion.
3) No one in BD wanted to work with India in 1971. Our population and leaders were forced to exile by Yahya Khan and ZA Bhutto. What do you expect in a situation when Bengali troops in many cantonments were even killed point-blank and thousands of bystanders were killed by the trigger-happy PA troops? Even a small rabbit seeks refuge when in danger. You did all the heinous crimes and are now squarely blaming us for it. Frankly speaking, it is only because you lost that war.
4) Every country has its economic and military limits. But, the big and small countries are living side by side in peace after the establishment of post-WWll new world order. We do not worry about India grabbing us and eat. It is not that easy.

The source of Feni river water is India itself. It is very strange that you guys think it is an infringement on our sovereignty if we give India water. Countries have to live together. China has a big issue on Arunachal, Tibet and Ladakh yet it keeps on doing $90 billion trade with India. Now, draw a parallel of the Pakistan-India relationship over Kashmir. If you think you are punishing India by not doing trade with it, essentially you yourself are getting punished for not separating trade from politics.

It seems Mamata Bannerji does not appreciate to be cursed by you. She gave importance to your hard feelings and has sent 5000 cusec of water through the Teesta in the 2019 dry season. Usually, she sends only 500 to 1,000 cusec in January. This year was an exception all because of your insistence. Read the text below. It says of bumper crops, especially of maize/corn in the north. However, that Assamese brat of Chinese descent @Axomiya_lora will hate her for that. He may send an assassin to kill her.

Probably sent in water to get this

Going through the script I was beginning to think the writer is a good civil engineer. With your knack in this field, you probably could have done better in engineering than being a doctor. But, anyway, civil engineering is sometimes a common sense.

But, what the Assamese Chinese @Axomiya_lora was talking about embankment? Does he really think an embankment is placed across a river? Please forgive him for not knowing the correct definition of the term. After all, he studied in a Hindu Tolle/Pathshala where the pupils are taught that the old-time Indian Hindus have developed jet planes and rockets.

On the contrary Indians are planning to annex part of Bangladesh to facilitate Tripura and adjoining areas.
Let us worry about that. You do what you can in Kashmir. Queen of Tripura wanted to join Pakistan in 1947. But Jinnah and Liaqat Ali was so busy to get Kashmir that they didn't even meet her. And then she decided to join India.

Anyway it is what it is. BD have no problem sharing water with NE India. But some agreement is necessary regarding Teesta. We are not inhuman to deprive them of water. As we are among the richest country in terms of water resources.

You Pakistanis should worry about India's water terrorism in Indus valley. They can simply get rid of IWT and make whole Pakistan a giant desert. Although I'm sure you guys will go for a suicide attack in such a case.

Know enough to see through your closed economy and BBS fakery! NE India has enough mineral and natural resources in general that your Shonar Bongal can only dream of.

Old trick from the book- cede an inch, grab a yard. Milch cattles are to be treated with care.

So why create these threads and make uninformed posts whining about water all the time. You are already neck deep in water in your swampland, any more and you lot will need to sprout gills.
North east india does have natural resources which will be use for betterment for rest of India. Hence you guys remain poor and disconnected from rest of India. Why assam has one of the lowest GDP percapita and no manufacturing. The truth is Indian corporations have many other cities to invest that's close to the coast line hence you will lose out to those cities. Not to mention most skill labours are available in those coastal cities.

Obviously the term multipurpose dam has escaped your notice, being an ADHD halfwit!

Utter falsehood. Erstwhile king Bir Bikram Manikya clearly stated his wish to join the Indian Union prior to his death in '47 according to the wish of his subjects, which was duly fulfilled by the Queen in 1949 by signing the Merger Agreement.

Your understanding is wrong, large public sector industries are there in Assam to make use of our resources. And we export lots of natural resources too to earn revenue. Private sector investment was low in NE due to militancy supported by China and your Bangladesh, and due to the ILP system. With the end of insurgency now in sight, investment in that sector is picking up aided by BJP's Look East Policy. NE will be the gateway to South East Asia in the coming years via Myanmar and infrastructure is being built on a war footing since 2014.

A region blessed with natural resources can make up easily despite a late start, but the unfortunate ones like Bangladesh will be in trouble if they fail to diversify with their meagre resource base.

Natural resources if you have any will only act as resource curse just like African countries. And hence assam will remain poor. More like a after thoughts when its comes to fdi or set up industries.
