Bangladesh to Exhaust Natural Gas in 8-9 Years

Shale gas is gas trapped in the soil. Where better than near the gas field itself. The technology is new and it is highly unlikely anyone have tried to explore it in BD. The technogy is very expensive... you separate the gas from soil by passing it through pressure.

Can you share details of the study you are quoting that had been carried out.
Isn't extracting from Shale highly polluted? Iirc some countries are outright banning it.

quite wrong tbh... there's a theoretical hydrocarbon reserve of 500 trillion dollars in the parts of bay of bengal that we control alone....

LOL..Theoretical is right. The USA would have an aircraft sitting in the Bay of Bengal if there was that much oil/gas there. India wouldn't be too far behind.

Well the US tried and still does from time to time to get a base in Bay of Bengal to station one of their fleet. It was all over the news during the political turmoil in 2008s

How much money is this 500 trillion dollars? I am perplexed.
Is it $500 trillion x 1000 = $500,000 billion US? I am not sure if it is too big or too small. My calculator broke down.

. .
So it was all lies that I used to hear in my childhood that Bangladesh floats on gas?

By the way, a big reason of such fast depletion is that we waste gas so much.

Need to cut all gas lines at homes and make all supply in cylinders, though impossible.

well the whole world's economy doesn't come close...
i can't seem to find the source i read it from years ago... but it was certainly no bangladeshi bs source... it was a scientific journal on resources in the oceans....

How convenient. muh 500 trillions! Just under Bangladesh's small EEZ.

I wonder what is the value of the total Oil and gas reserves in the whole world right now? Take a wild guess.

not impossible if you just stop the supply from the main plant...
i've seen slum dwellers on tv, dry their clothes with the gas running...

The total seems to be 32.1 trillion cft of natural gas that remains to be pinpointed and explored. -@bluesky-

Petrobangla/USGS Undiscovered Natural Gas Assessments

- Bangladesh Country Assessment (TPS) in total = 32.1 TCF (8.4 - 65.7)
- Onshore = 23.3 TCF (6.0 - 48.3)
- Offshore = 8.8 TCF (2.4 - 17.4) (< 200m water depths)

Total Petroleum System (Bangladesh) BANG01 Tertiary Composite
Assessment Units (Bangladesh):

1) BANG0101 Surma Basin
2) BANG0102 Easternmost Extremely Folded Belt
3) BANG0103 High Amplitude Faulted Anticlines
4) BANG0104 Moderately Folded Anticlines
5) BANG0105 Western Slope
6) BANG0106 Western Platform

Better start finding these theoretic resources. Last I read Bdesh has not really found any new viable NG fields despite looking over the last few years.

I would recommend getting the Greater Bangladesh plans up and running. Assam has tons of cheap unexploited energy that can assist Bdesh's economic development.
