No it was not. Thats why BD was categorized as LDC and India and PK categorized as developing country. There were no incentive of being LDC that time and BD did not intentionally claimed itself as LDC.

That was after 1971... but both India and bangladesh's condition was much worse even in 1970.

Its adult literacy rate is 94.59 per cent compared to US's 99.
Life expectancy at birth in Kerala is 75 years 77 years in the US.
Female life expectancy in Kerala exceeds that of the male, just as it does in the developed world.

It has a lot of Engineering and Science graduates/post graduates and phDs like plenty..

Even then have you heard that Kerala is R&D/industrial hub in India???
That title goes to Banglore/hyderabad.......

India is only slightly ahead due to GDP consideration but non income HDI is same for both India and Bangladesh where India overcome all the lagging for slightly better education data.

If you wanna compare this indices,you are free to do so.But Bangladesh's HDI is not gonna overtake India without at least doubling its nominal per capita income.But that is not gonna happen just by changing base years(Although It may marginally increase its GDP,But not by a big margin).So,Sorry You are wrong.

If it increases by 30-50% or more it wont be a marginal increase. But enough to change the point of HDI. As you have already seen India lagged behind Bd in almost all the category. Best of luck and keep up good work.

You are wrong Bangladesh was better then India in 1970 in all category including per capita GDP. You can bring the example of 1971 war which had destroyed all the infrastructure and economic base and 24 years of oppression under Pakistan.

For your info in 1970 Bangladesh's per capita GDP was also higher then China.

Infrastructure and Industrialization will push the Poor into Urbanization and Modernization.

Why the word Hindustan is stupid to you. It was always the name of this region until the British/Europeans changed it to India. In the maps they compiled it is India, but people of asia all used to call it Hindustan. This name is certainly not deragatory in nature. Irrespective of the name being Hindustan, it was/is also the motherland of other religionists.
