I found that Odia scripts are the closest to Sinhalese in all pan Sanskrit languages

Hmmm... But Sinhalese language existed before Asoka or the arrival of Buddhism to the island.. Probably it evolved from the early settlers from Vijaya and afterwards who were predominately from Bengal/Odiya, along with Gujarat and Punjab

Again i'm solely speaking of the written style.. I haven't head the spoken language
