No its not accurate. That list is not even updated, refer to the wiki page which is recent or go on to sky scrapercity to see what is being constructed.

Actually, Emporis has more credibility because it's not a user generated list like wiki or sky scrapercity rather goes through strict verification.

Here are few snaps of Dhaka's skyline, looks pretty old but yet enough to prove my point.

Take a look at the density of the high-rises.

.
Few things,

Bahria Town is just a planned suburb. Such planned residential suburbs are there in every other decent cities. Dhaka is building gigantic new one in Purbachal which is set to house more than a million residents.

178 Sq Km area is not fully developed, most of it are still empty spaces.

And you are showing off with a water fountain? Seriously????

Because the one in Karachi is developing as we speak. do you want me to show you the ones that are complete in Islamabad and Lahore?

.
7 % growth rate and can't even have a half decent sewage system or a normal road in any of your cities.
But, our @Bilal9 will not accept your opinion that Dhaka has no decent road & transport system, a good rainwater drainage system, even almost none of the eateries have toilets, etc. etc. He will keep on sending photographs of some office buildings.

LOL dude the list for Pakistan does not even include Bahria Icon, Pakistan's tallest building at 300 meters plus and you want me to believe that list?

Is it complete yet? The list only shows the completed buildings.

Dude, you can show whatever you want, the thing is such planned residential suburbs are there in every other city

Nice pic there! Karachi looking good!

@Gibbs @madokafc and @Aung Zaya all have an affinity for BD CGI thanks to one particular BD specimen. :D

Karachi finally is starting to get somewhat of a skyline as the city has spread out as much as it could. Many more projects coming up around the city but one again down side is that they are very spaced out.

TBH I am not one to get into such pissing contests but I have been seeing so much nonsense recently I though I had to show some people the reality.

As I have said, their and our priorities are different. Bangladeshi elite should share the misfortune of living in a chaotic city with common people. That's why we have no Islamabad or Bahria town.

I believe this Pakistani person is trying to troll bait you guys into starting a fight which is pointless. Our circumstance and theirs are different and I am fine with that. Pointless to measure schwanzes. If our economy is doing good, rest (roads, airports, town infra) will all fall inline sooner or later, butt-hurt of outsiders notwithstanding. I am not really worried about the comparisons being brought in. We're fine.

There are restaurants, infrastructure and architectural achievements by architects in Bangladesh that compare with the finest in Asia, not just Pakistan or India. Our architects ARE world class. I have repeatedly provided proof by providing links to my urban development and restaurant threads.

Upperclass restaurant culture and patronization in Bangladesh these days involves in some cases European chefs (Haute Cuisine). It's all in my Bangladeshi cuisine thread which I haven't updated for a while. No surprise with evolving economy. Why can't we enjoy the variety of lifestyles across countries other than put each other down? We can visit each other's cities and sample architecture and cuisine, no one will stop you. This is all pointless.

@Khan_21 if you are interested so much in fine architecture and interior design across Pakistan and Bangladesh then open a separate thread to compare and then let us know. Comparing quality of architecture requires the understanding of aesthetics and the training of an architect. The OT flame posts (it seems that is all you are interested in) has gone on for a bit too long - please go open a separate thread to discuss elsewhere.

@waz bhai can you kindly close the thread....another discussion gone to oblivion.

You have been shown the reality with this post alone,

Dhaka has 8 buildings taller than 100 meters while Karachi has 5.

https://www.emporis.com/city/100200/dhaka-bangladesh/status/existing/1
https://www.emporis.com/city/100382/karachi-pakistan/status/existing/1

Even a 15 year old picture of Dhaka shows more high rises than present day Karachi.

Except that the ones in BD are a few apartment complexes and not planned big suburbs. Bahria town's area is equal to your entire cities. What kind of homes are there exactly in your subarbs?

California like farm houses

I don't think even the elite in BD have such houses. Remember these homes are not $1 million homes . They are well within reach of any Upper-class guy with good savings.

Karachi finally is starting to get somewhat of a skyline as the city has spread out as much as it could. Many more projects coming up around the city but one again down side is that they are very spaced out.

Yah Bombay was very much more hemmed in, esp in its main business districts.

When there is more land available, there will be this outward expansion first and then later consolidation in the main hubs. Sort of like what happened/happening in Delhi area too.

I honestly don't judge skyline to skyline too much in the first place given this sensitivity (and other factors) when the country is developing in the first place. But no question Pakistan is well ahead of Bangladesh.

BTW @Khan_21 here is that Harvard study I was talking about:

http://atlas.cid.harvard.edu/rankings/growth-projections/

As you can see in current snapshot, Pakistan has 6% base sustainable long term real growth rate compared to BD 4% based on the multi-variate analysis (things like the energy consumption base I mentioned earlier + physical materials and products). I am pretty sure Pakistan can bump up a few more % points with the relevant reforms and infra deployment + human skilling in the coming years.

You cannot talk sense into them. Their insecurities even show off in their sports teams. Remember the Cobra dance they did after winning a match? They try really hard to get noticed but end up looking really lame.

Visit Sylhet, you will get to stay in villas with far superior facilities and designs that even your elite owns, at far cheap rates.

As I said, if you want to compare luxury facilities, compare the number of international chain hotels, a single Bangladeshi city of Cox's Bazar beats entire Pakistan hands down.
