7 % growth rate but still stuck in making underwears and vests. Meanwhile, Pakistan is exporting Jets to numerous countries, Surgical instruments and Footballs of such high quality every time there is FIFA world cup our balls are used there including this one. Come to think of it what exactly does BD export that requires some sort of technical skill?

Dude the places you named are a few buildings. Do you even know how big Bahria town is in each city and the scale involved? Everything inside Bahria town is world class. By world class, I mean the facilities found in west. And this an upper Middle-class area not elite Sectors in Islamabad. I can give you an example of numerous world class things found in Bahria town but here is just one look at its fountain show similar to the ones in Dubai or KL.

Bahria town is not a few apartment buildings its almost a city in itself with Themed Safaris, Luxury Homes, Under construction Theme Parks, Golf courses and what not. Bahria town Karachi alone is 178 Sq Km that's a world class vicinity almost equal to a city in your country.

Few things,

Bahria Town is just a planned suburb. Such planned residential suburbs are there in every other decent cities. Dhaka is building gigantic new one in Purbachal which is set to house more than a million residents.

178 Sq Km area is not fully developed, most of it are still empty spaces.

And you are showing off with a water fountain? Seriously????

Dude, JF-17 uses Chinese airframe, fbw and radar with Russian engine.
BD exports ships, tvs and drugs as well as garments.
Did you know that the 2.5 billion dollar a year BD drug industry is 97% supplied by domestic companies?

Im sorry you know very well that whatever construction is happening in Bangladesh pales in comparison to Pakistan. Be it in infrastructure, housing etc. Refer to my previous post, Pakistan is starting to build 60+ floor apartment building and we are stuck in the 70s?

300 Meter Bahria Icon already made meanwhile In Dhaka they haven't gotten out of 160. Makes you think where is this economic activity going on. If I have learned one thing about BD its that nothing is there on the ground. Everything is in the pipeline or to be made 10 years later.

You are stuck in the 70s in your visualisation about Bangladesh.

We are building a 40km elevated expressway, an underwater expressway tunnel (first in South Asia) among other projects. In terms of housing, numerous high-rises are under construction.

You could compare the city skylines of both countries. The skylines of Pakistani cities shows just one or two tall buildings in a pool of low rises while skyline of Bangladeshi cities shows a dense collection of innumerable highrises.

60-65 % of JF-17 is made inside Kamra aeronautical complex. Enlighten yourself. What high tech skill is exactly involved in making drugs?

Is that expressway similar to the airports and metro train you making which are taking decades to complete?

Karachi has 25 Plus 100 meter while Dhaka has 4-5 buildings. We also have a 300 meter one.

A simple google search won't do any harm.

Dude, do you really think this user generated lists have a value worth a penny?

Just compare the city skylines of Dhaka and Karachi. It's quite clear which city has got more high rises.

The skyline of Dhaka is nothing but a collection of 10-15 floor buildings. Considering how dense Dhaka is it is not surprise that its building will be clustered like that. Karachi on the other hand is much more spread out and still builds buildings taller than Dhaka. Karachi's skyline is beginning to emerge and all its projects are much more ambitious than Dhaka's. Construction is actually happening and is not just stuck on CGI.

The "highrises" of Dhaka are in every part of Karachi. Building 10 floor buildings is not very hard.

Its funny they will quote this but not quote the actual realised levels of production now compared to what they were projecting both last year and the year before that etc.

India basically said a flat no to them when they begged for a little more API allocation/help to BD capacity (and also Indian lobby groups did their bit within BD).

Basically India correctly kept its MVA margin (for its own benefit) and BD can have the final 10% or so assembly/integration scraps...a few millions of dollars of production basically.

BD basically got shafted and this industry will flat line at low level, like the rest....and it falls out of the news cycle as a result.

Like I said, BD only can compete on anything industrial when they get their total overall energy consumption per capita (given thats the single largest determinant of actual realised GDP) well PAST the subcontinent standards of the 60s....and by then the others will have progressed too....so who really knows how much they can catch up.

There is a reason why Harvard projected long term sustainable growth rate of BD to be only 4% (based largely on actual physical consumption of important things at the larger portions of the population)...past the RMG handout (which expires soon and will deflate a lot of BD hot air here quite badly given the inflation that is seriously eroding their households already), there is nothing shaping up there to really breakout fast enough into what matters.

These are the links from Emporis for Dhaka and Karachi. Dhaka has 8 buildings taller than 100 meters while Karachi has 5.

https://www.emporis.com/city/100200/dhaka-bangladesh/status/existing/1
https://www.emporis.com/city/100382/karachi-pakistan/status/existing/1

Yet I believe this list is far from accurate.

@MAB

No its not accurate. That list is not even updated, refer to the wiki page which is recent or go on to sky scrapercity to see what is being constructed.

Nice pic there! Karachi looking good!

@Gibbs @madokafc and @Aung Zaya all have an affinity for BD CGI thanks to one particular BD specimen. :D
