hilsha is quite overrated fish... there are other much better tasting fish in general.... but the reason all the fuss is about is because of padma river hilsha's/.... which are reportedly very tasty.... i can confirm that after eating hilsha at different geographical region including kuwait.... kuwaiti hilsha smell terrible.... meanwhile small to medium size hilsha's are full of thorns that's just not worth striving for. hence overrated... the best hilsha's are at padma river and sadly they don't come cheap and are mostly eaten off by the elites in the country.... not exported eleswhere.

ps. it;s Bangladesh you illiterate fuckwid. either learn it from someone's correction over the internet or get yourself admitted to primary school to learn how to spell.

Hilsa fish is available in Hooghly river too. India is also a contender of the GI.

Man we are fighting over a fish. Bangladeshis can have it.

No let them have it. We are happy either way. We have bigger problems to look after.

First of all, this thread is full of Bangladeshi haters.

And, Hilsa is not Hilsa, if it isn't caught from Padma river. :enjoy:

BTW, that Indian Bakra should learn how to spell properly...

Padma river gets lots of veggie poops from upper Ganges, maybe that's why Bangladeshis claim their Hilsas to be the best in the world and deserve to be called Hilsas*, while others don't.

* We call it Ilish here in India. I prefer Ilish of Hooghly over Hilsas of Padma.

Hilsha or ilishi is very tasty fish and quite costly too_One kg costs around 20 dollars. Now a days most of this fish not avail in local market as these are mostly exported to Japan.
In odia we say" machha khaiba ilishi o chakiri Karina polisi...means best fish to eat is hilsha and best job to do is police.

.
Now I will have to kill everyone who bad mouths Hilsa or Ilishi as we say.:angry:

Hilsha or Ilishi is close to my heart and stomach through my mouth. Bloody hell, that will remain my number one non-veg dish till death. :)
