Bangladesh on track to become a top 30 economy: US

You know, I recently went to Cambodia and I was quite impressed. Their tourism infrastructure was of a high standard and Phnom Pehn was a reasonably clean city. I would be impressed if the standard of living in your swamp was even close to theirs.

Our armed forces are not in the habit of disclosing their acquisitions publicly. One has to use good judgement and the number of reports and pictures of a certain craft has to he taken as confirmation.
Pictures and Blog doesn't make it a confirmation!

We have seen many Weapon system bought into India!. Doesn't mean its a confirmation that we have all of them just because it is spotted!

Think you fail to understand ....
The link you posted "Myanmar to buy undisclosed number of new Chinese CH-3 UAVs developed by China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics of China"

This is confirmed officially? just because u see on in the country (possible evaluation) doesn't mean it has.
well.. may be u skipped the last line of article bro...
The CH-3 is operated by the Armed force of Nigeria , Pakistan and Myanmar..
and the soldiers in the pic are from Myanmar armed force..
for more..

And our armed forces never publicly disclose acquisitions so there will never be 'official confirmation'.

Pal, i didn't discredit the photo. All we are asking is confirmation! ... Something blogs are not a good source. This one is much better

Pal, Agree that not all Govt. Discloses acquisitions. BUT making a Point that just because posting a Pic and saying we have acquired it without any further proof To some of us - isn't confirmation

Please do not blame everything of our bad goings on Pakistan. It is not that there were no development works before 1971 even if there was a disparity.
1) All the main roads that connect the former greater district towns were built before 1971. Most or many of these are the wide roads built by Sultan Sher Shah Suri . The 2-lane roads have not yet been made 4-lane ones even 45 years after separation.
2) Chittagong Steel Mills, Cable factories, Ctg. Triple super-phosphate fertilizer factory, Ctg. dry dock, many jute mills and many hundred others factories were built before 1971. Many of them are in ruins during BD period.
3) Kaptai and hydroelectricity plant were built. There is only one place where an artificial lake can be built to produce power. But, BoG does not even knows about it. It is in the upstream Sankha river.
4) The 2nd Capital was built in Dhaka.
5) Chandraghona Paper and Pulp Mill was also built at that time. Are there similar projects during BD time?
6) Only now the kind GoB is building power plants in the country. It is only a little more than double than the 23 years in an united Pakistan. BD had built more than 3000 mW producing power plants before 1971.
7) The IRRI paddy projects were all started during Pakistan time after Farakka was built.

So, it is preposterous to always speak evil of everything during Pakistan time and demonizing that period. Only now the kind GoB is building power plants in the country, 25yrs. after we left the union with (west) Pakistan.

Any underdeveloped country develops very slowly. It is too difficult to build the physical infrastructure, specially the roads, in a flood effected terrain of BD. But, as I said before, all the district level roads were built with huge cost at that time. The pace of development was higher during Pakistan time of 23 yrs. than it is in BD during its first 33 yrs.

However, it is developing very fast now, thanks to the privately owned and operated RMG sector. Whatever BD is building now is based on the development works built during the Pakistan period.

I am not saying that there was not any development during Pakistan era but much more could and should
have been done.

Pakistan was living the easy life during BD era due to the enormous transfer of fiscal resources from BD.
It's economy never ever did anywhere near as well after 1971 and it should be obvious why. OK it did grow
well in the 1980s but that was mainly due to US handouts because of Afghan war.

Why are you calling us out, little Bongo? It would be a gigantic shame if you didn't get into the top 30. You are the 7th most populous country in the world. Bigger or soon to be bigger than Japan or Russia yet no one's heard of you. You even have to call your restaurants 'Indian' restaurants.

What does this news even mean? Looking at the countries you will be going ahead of, by getting into the top 30, you will be jumping ahead of the likes of Finland, Denmark, Hong Kong, Norway, Ireland and a few other mature, high consumption economies. Is that really something to be proud of? 200million odd little people put together will create more than a few million Scandanavians by 2030. I suppose we all have to start somewhere eh?

FYI as for Myanmar, out growth rate exceeds yours by a couple of percentage points and that is with financial sanctions from the US. We also have a slight edge in per-capita GDP which becomes a significant edge when it's adjusted for PPP. So as you can see, you actually trail us and over time our total economy will exceed yours even though you have over 3 times the population. And even then we will not be proud because that is nothing to be proud of.

Yes Myanmar will have larger economy than BD.

BD growth will ramp up from the current growth rate of 7% and Myanmar will not have a natural resource boom
for ever

Sure if BD posters dont drag in Myanmar economy...I will be happy to oblige. Read the post above that I was answering to....you even gave it a thanks lulz.

Just ignore them and not start a discussion, act as if they didn't exist at all.And besides,I give thanks to almost all the posts I see except which are offensive...

Why do you burmese monkey think that BD will stop growing after becoming top 30 in 2030? We will become top 20 in 2050 and probably top 10 in 2100AD. 7th/8th largest population is our strength not weakness. We have capability to support this much population that's why we have it.With this man power we can become powerful and influential with proper management which your sparsely populated jungle can't.You were always a remote backwater in a forbidden corner of Asia while land of BD was a thriving population center with a lot of economic and trade activities throughout the ages.Go compare yourselves with like that of Laos/Cambodia.They are more worth than you.

Please avoid insulting comments,abba-jan.If they hate us,then let them vent their hatred on us,but we should stick to our business...

This means there is definitely a good future for SAARC+ASEAN trade agreement in the future.

Excellent.

Yep.Bangladesh was even offered to join ASEAN I rekon.

JF-17 and Yak-130 on order.. and even the whole world know..

You said that 2-3 Yak-130s have been delivered in the BD and MM open discussion thread...
You can't say "the whole world" because I'm sure 80% people in the world don't even know what Yak-130 and JF-17/FC-01 are...

( even unlike ur wet dream 160 Su-30 )

Su-30 has not been chosen yet.Even though Sukhoi Su-30 and Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-35 are the top contenders, there is still competition from SAAB JAS-39 Gripen,F/A-18,F-16,Dassault Mirage-2000 and Chengdu J-10.

Our plans :
* 6 Squadrons of 4++ Generation air superiority fighters.
* 4 squadrons of multi-role 4++ Generation aircrafts with great maritime-strike capability.

Note : After the delivery of the final batch of Yak-130s ( end of this year ) we will order a 2-4 squadrons of the chosen 4++ generation bird, for which the delivery deadline would be 16th December 2021,the 50th anniversary of the nation and the first batch to be delivered by 2 years from order date ( 2019's beginning ).These Yak-130s will train 600 pilots for the chosen aircraft for 2 years untill new birds have arrived and these pilots are transferred to the new birds.
I hope you understand.

I heard it all over the news that you guys were on each other's throats...

The Banter of 130 Su30 been a wet dream is a sad one

Its not a wet dream, its part of an ambitious mordernization plan. And its not confirmed which aircraft we will get,or how many...All we know - 10 squadrons of 4++ generation birdies...

. They are Dharmic fellow buddhist countries after all.

They should rather be secular, and declare equality amongst people of all religions...

Think you fail to understand ....

Thats why I never believe CH-3 bla bla,but this image ( shown below ) shows MM military personnel...

Thats insulting, you should be to Dhaka sometimes...We'd welcome you ( not these anti-Myanmar morons in PDF tho )
They call it as Venice of the East for a very good reason,it is built upon the Buriganga river.

If you have visited the country side, you will realize that its 10000000 times more beautiful than Dhaka...

Our armed forces are not in the habit of disclosing their acquisitions publicly

Same here, infact you can land yourself in BIG trouble very quickly if you are inquistive about the military..

Bangladesh a majority muslim country working well in a secular democracy could work as a good example.

Besides India would like bangladeshis to be employed in their own country.

There are half a million Indians in Bangladesh who pass 1 billion USD to India every year and double that amount of Bangladeshis working in India...

Yes Myanmar will have larger economy than BD.

BD growth will ramp up from the current growth rate of 7% and Myanmar will not have a natural resource boom

Never under-estimate people,thank you.

True that the past is the past, but I won't have arrogant Indians looking down on BD'shis without
reminding them how much of an advantage they had in independence over BD. This reminder
puts them back in their place.

Well,if they do that again, just ask them where did they defecate the last time...

Very good progress, BD is definitely the 2nd best performing economy in south Asia after India. Keep that 7% growth consistent for 7-8 years and you'll very soon be the 2nd powerful economy in SAARC.

Difference between BD & Pak is around 50 Billion, if BD keeps 7% & Pak grows at 4%,

then after 7 years BD's economy will be ~ 363 Billion (226 currently)
& Pakistan's ecnomy @ 4% will be ~ 354 Billion (269 currently).

So guys keep the current government running and you'll be the 2nd best economy in SAARC. :yahoo::yahoo:

Once the major infastructures are completed, the rate will soar to 8-9% from 7%.
Mongla Sea Port has as much potential as Chittagong one,but it does not have good connection to the rest of the country,so it is hardly a port these days...Once the Padma bridge is built,Mongla port will revive.
After Payra deep sea port will be fully completed,we will become a major trade hub in the region with 4 major ports,Chittagong,Mongla and Payra and another upcoming another deep port at Sonadia,so 4 times more trade.
Once BangaBandhu-1 satellite is launched,it will save us lots of money and we can rent this satellite for extra bling bling.
Bangladesh is emerging on IT and Leather sector which will make sure that the RMG faces tight competition, resulting in higher wages and better lives of worker class people.
Hundreds of bridges and thousands of high rises are under construction.
Massive railway and roadway extension programs are underway.

A decade ago,Dhaka didn't have more than 50 mid rises, now we are constructing the 2nd tallest building in the world ( 142 stories ) and the whole country is changing, low grade towns had only 1-2 story ancient buildings, now they have 5-7+ stories. And more and more development projects are being introduced everyday...At this rate,Bangladesh's economy might take over India by post 2050...
