Bangladesh on track to become a top 30 economy: US

.
Are there any politicians in SL that you know that can fit a LKY category?

Not by far mate.. It'll take a decade or two of political reforms to get someone even close.. Lankans are still very immature when it comes to multi party electoral democracy.. Dont let the literacy rates fool you

.
This means there is definitely a good future for SAARC+ASEAN trade agreement in the future.

Excellent.

Yah I know literacy means nothing. It hasnt really improved the calibre of leaders in the south (bar a few exceptions - but thats more through dumb luck lol).

But the bureaucracy in the south and SL tends to deliver ok (relatively speaking) I find. Thats where literacy/overall education quality comes in somewhat I feel....more from the user demand side tbh.

Not had any dealing with the Indian bureaucracy to judge, Exxcept the I nndian high commision to get Visa (Which itself is a tedious task) But having heard of it i can imagine how horrendous it must be, Given that i feel Lankan public sector to be the most corrupt incompetent i have come across in my life.. These countries need a social revolution me thinks to get some sort of resemblance to be considered first world in terms of governance

Why are you calling us out, little Bongo? It would be a gigantic shame if you didn't get into the top 30. You are the 7th most populous country in the world. Bigger or soon to be bigger than Japan or Russia yet no one's heard of you. You even have to call your restaurants 'Indian' restaurants.

What does this news even mean? Looking at the countries you will be going ahead of, by getting into the top 30, you will be jumping ahead of the likes of Finland, Denmark, Hong Kong, Norway, Ireland and a few other mature, high consumption economies. Is that really something to be proud of? 200million odd little people put together will create more than a few million Scandanavians by 2030. I suppose we all have to start somewhere eh?

FYI as for Myanmar, out growth rate exceeds yours by a couple of percentage points and that is with financial sanctions from the US. We also have a slight edge in per-capita GDP which becomes a significant edge when it's adjusted for PPP. So as you can see, you actually trail us and over time our total economy will exceed yours even though you have over 3 times the population. And even then we will not be proud because that is nothing to be proud of.
Why do you burmese monkey think that BD will stop growing after becoming top 30 in 2030? We will become top 20 in 2050 and probably top 10 in 2100AD. 7th/8th largest population is our strength not weakness. We have capability to support this much population that's why we have it.With this man power we can become powerful and influential with proper management which your sparsely populated jungle can't.You were always a remote backwater in a forbidden corner of Asia while land of BD was a thriving population center with a lot of economic and trade activities throughout the ages.Go compare yourselves with like that of Laos/Cambodia.They are more worth than you.

I'm talking all relative lol. Personal experiences are always going to be bad generally (esp for low priority stuff like the foreign service).

But I judge on the aggregate data of important things like health, education, social services, industry etc... some large states in India are just terrible at this stuff....even for India.

TN actually had a worse poverty rate than Bihar in the early 80s for example....and now you cant even believe that was the case.

JF-17 and Yak-130 on order.. and even the whole world know.. `( even unlike ur wet dream 160 Su-30 )
and Check this thread.. u can find multiple pic of CH-3A of Myanmar..
https://defence.pk/threads/myanmar-military-economy-news-and-updates.347379/page-43

The Banter of 130 Su30 been a wet dream is a sad one - u need to check that there are 200+ Su30 as on now in the IAF (and soon upgrades to start)

Always better a quote a proper source like articles reports etc than a thread+ the whole world doesn't know as there are no confirmed reports other than possibilities!

Thanks :enjoy:

Weren't you guys were in a serious feud with them?

Not a feud, but more of an uneasy rivalry stemming from the history.

Thai people will never forget how Burmese destroyed their capital Ayuthaaya.

There was some unease over Thailand economic growth and prosperity (same extended to Cambodia too)

But today they (Burma and Thailand) are cooperating and friendly neighbours. They are Dharmic fellow buddhist countries after all.

You are doing better than BD where it really counts....actual on the ground production/consumption.

Who cares if BD can buy a cpl more apples in the US.....we care about how many apples they actually are able to buy and eat within BD compared to what Burmese do so for in Myanmar. Apples of course is just simplifying what I mean by every good and service overall.

The official figures are guidelines more than anything. Systemic corruption whereby everyone pleads poverty around tax season is endemic and Myanmar has a very large shadow economy revolving around precious minerals, hardwoods and yes, illicit narcotics. The real figures are somewhat north of the official figures but I can only go to bat with the official figures, which are good enough, as reliable economic data and statistics are hard to come by here.

Actually, in reality, our purchasing power maybe less than the bongos and our nominal may actually be quite a bit ahead. At any rate I'm reasonably happy with where we are and where we're heading.

You know, I recently went to Cambodia and I was quite impressed. Their tourism infrastructure was of a high standard and Phnom Pehn was a reasonably clean city. I would be impressed if the standard of living in your swamp was even close to theirs.

Think you fail to understand ....
The link you posted "Myanmar to buy undisclosed number of new Chinese CH-3 UAVs developed by China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics of China"

This is confirmed officially? just because u see on in the country (possible evaluation) doesn't mean it has.

Our armed forces are not in the habit of disclosing their acquisitions publicly. One has to use good judgement and the number of reports and pictures of a certain craft has to he taken as confirmation.

Bangladesh a majority muslim country working well in a secular democracy could work as a good example.

Besides India would like bangladeshis to be employed in their own country.
