Bangladesh not invited in Biden’s Summit for Democracy

not always. But in general yes.

BD should have democracy when and IF we ever reach where Malaysia is today.
I would say as long as you neutralized BAL ( BNP is already neutralized I think ) , then slowly we have to build up nation.

Maybe Chinese model will be better than demon-crazy ( democracy ) !

Malaysia was under one man for many years. As long as we have a good leadership its good. China changed leader every 10 years except current one.

do countries need stamp of authenticity from US to be a genuine democracy? Not that i am saying Bangladesh is a democracy. It is a de facto one party system with no opposition in sight. All opposition has either been hanged or is in jail.

Highlights:
  • India, Pakistan, Nepal have been invited
  • Afghanistan, Sri Lanka have been excluded
  • China, Turkey and Russia were missing from the list
Bangladesh is not among the 110 countries which have been invited to the US President Joe Biden's virtual Summit for Democracy, according to a list disclosed by the White House.

Among the South Asian countries, India, Pakistan and Nepal have been invited whereas Afghanistan and Sri Lanka could not make it to the list.

The summit, which is going to be held on December 9-10, has invited Taiwan which is likely to increase tension between US and China.

However, China, Turkey and Russia were missing from the list.

Among the countries of the Middle East, only Israel and Iraq will take place in the online conference.

Traditional Arab allies of the US — Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, are not invited, reports Firstpost.

Biden invited Brazil even though its far right president, Jair Bolsonaro has been criticised as having an authoritarian bent and was a firm supporter of Donald Trump.

In Europe, Poland was invited to the summit despite persistent tension with the European Union over its human rights record. Hungary, led by hardline nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban, was not invited.

In Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Nigeria and Niger are among the countries on the list.

In announcing the summit back in August, the White House said the meeting would "galvanise commitments and initiatives across three principal themes: defending against authoritarianism, fighting corruption, and promoting respect for human rights."

looks like this president is suffering from Dementia and instead of inviting Bangladesh he ended up Inviting Pakistan although India had told him not to do that.

No, President Biden is not suffering from dimentia. He knows IK did not steal election, Hasina Bibi regularly does. Hasina needed a good slap from America.
So what are they crying about 🤣

Democracy is luxury for third world countries like Bd.
"গাঁয়ে মানেনা , নিজেই মোড়ল" is certainly not a good recipe for any country. Only democracy causes check and balance and development. BD is an underdeveloped country and it will remain so without the participation of many minds.

Whatever borrow and build projects you guys think is development may not be so because local companies and local money are not involved. BAL is doing so and the foreign borrowing amounts to $97 billion already.

So, how many more billions BD can borrow? But no one is there to discuss the matter in Parliament because the Opposition and democracy are not there.

Probelm is bd dont have good alternatives. If its not BAL who ever comes will keep doing corruption. Its the society and ppl it self.

Maybe dr yunus was good but he dont have stomach for nasty politics.

Nonsensical dynastic politics have taken the legs out of BD democracy.

BNP is all but dead and BAL is now a conglomerate of theives and criminals.

Will an alternative appear... does not seem likely in the near future.

As long as there is stability of sorts to allow for economic growth and expansion of educated polity i have hope in medium to long term there will be groundswell of demand for good governance and true multiparty democracy that will sweep aside the staus quo

Yunus won't gain legitimatecy according to democracy standard hence he is bad choice.

You must have to choose from political people in order to make the process more legitimate untill a certain period of time.

However if you carefully observe, you will see that Nurul hauqe Nur is getting ground.

Against BAL he has a fat chance as all anti BAL will vote for him.

But you need to wait till 2029 for them to become majority in parliament.

So in next election if they get 60/70 seats , I think that will be sufficient.

And later wining in 2029. Look at Pakistan and PTI.

Nur is becoming popular. We don't have cricket cult like icon ,but we can get new era shere Bangla ,vasani , Sohrawardi from these boys.

You only have to nurture them. For the rest don't ask me who will nurture. The difference between me and most of people here is , my logic supports deep state that exists from antiquity.

In some countries the deep state is more powerful than others.

But surely you will see your desired result in Bangladesh in near future.

Why near future and not distant future? Because BAL already ruled 13 years.

And well i expect a national unity govt in Bangladesh who will rule for 2/3 years. This time not with technocrats like Fakhruddin , but this time by acceptable person by all parties.

Now let's see where things are going. China rised as super power ,so many course will be changed for sure!

Ps- Please keep in mind , if there will be democracy in Bangladesh, it must be free from family dynasty and personality cult ( like Mujib , Zia ,Hasina Khaleda , Yunus or whatever name you propose. Besides Yunus is nothing but western asset ,hence I strongly oppose him.) , and non of the current parties are capable doing this!

Case is different in Bangladesh. Even in 1970 election under Yahyah Khan , Pakistan observed a free and fair election. If he corrupted it , Mujib would not win.

But after the birth of Bangladesh election rigging started. And no one was actually elected in Bangladesh. All actually rigged election.

And

.

All are massively rigged. Interestingly BAL supporters will call 1973 election as free and fair election, and opposition will tag it as massively rigged election.

And for 1978 presidential election and 1979 national election, BNP call it free and fair election, and BAL call it rigged.

And later election are massively rigged . Only 1991 and 1996 looks better , but still not free from rigging!

( But yes 1996 election was better than others as gap between BNP and BAL was negligible!)

In reality all are rigged. Bangladesh is the birth place of naked election rigging IMHO!

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were excluded as they are close allies of China but I am surprised at the inclusion of Pakistan. Does this mean Pakistan is moving away from China?
