What's new

Bangladesh Media Watch

Observations:

1. Number of hourly participants who voted ‘Yes’ remains consistent throughout of the sampling period (Column 8).

2. Number of hourly participants who voted ‘No’ remains consistent up until 02:45 PM, that is, 23, 32, 29, 28, then a sudden and abrupt jump to 130, then again 129, then 74, then back to normal (Column 9).

3. For obvious reasons it can be expected that the ratio of Yes and No (per hour) remain similar throughout of the sampling period. It does, except at three points which reflects in the abrupt increase of naysayers at 3:45PM, 4:45PM and 5:45PM. This abnormalcy is clearly visible in column 7. In view of the data in columns 7, 8, 9 & 12, it’s highly plausible that the poll was manipulated at least thrice.

4. Finally, number of bdnews24 viewers seems to have fallen drastically since the time its bias and dishonesty were exposed.

@kobiraaz

This is why BAL wants election under electronic voting system :cheesy:

Was on holiday bro, so had enough time to spare. BTW, just deduct the three manipulated data and you have a completely different picture, a win by roughly 65/35.

more holidays ahead. sheikh mujib's birthday followed by hartals. btw so this is the plan., media will show the world that Hasina is popular and then they will engineer the election. I hope bnp is intelligent enough to monitor these build ups and brief it to diplomates. even this little poll manipulation by bdnews is significant enough. more people should knw about this @aazidane @MBI Munshi @asad71

Listen bro, the media can do a lot in Bangladesh but it is not a decisive factor. BTV has reached 90% of the population, 35% by atn and the rest ranging from 15-25%. Media is not only the decisive factor. BNP has already instructed their mps in talk shows to attack the media by pointing out their polarization. This is all that can be done now. The objective for bnp is now to get caretaker government. There is not much that can be done in Bangladesh when you are in the opposition.

Thanks to our media, to the 'International community' the current turmoil is mostly perceived as a series of conflicts between Islamists and the people. Amar desh and the 'talk shows' may be enough to convey the ground reality to our own people while it's The Daily Star and bdnews that present 'news' to the rest of the world. Do you remember a few days ago you and some other BD posters utterly failed to convince a Canadian member about the reality of our current political conflicts? That's only because you failed to refer to a source of news that represents the truth.

Though the international community seems to be aware of the injustice done to certain 'Islamist' leaders, they may get the wrong message about the popularity of the AL regime. This is not going to help us in our struggle against the anti-people oppressive regime, because the part of our media that reaches the International community successfully managed to portray the main opposition BNP as only an accomplice to the JeI, who were shown to be supporting them against the will of the people as a political strategy. At present every criminal activity in Bangladesh is being blamed upon the JeI by these 'prestegious' news outlets. Even the recent murder of the Narayangon leader's son was implicitly blamed upon JeI where even the father himself said something to the contrary. Name one English language media outlet which can at least deny these allegations.

@kobiraaz

There is also a bangla poll which says the complete opposite -

Yeah...it proves BNP is a Gadha opposition party, without strong media wing it was suppoosed to happen.

You are unfortunately correct. Though, power ultimately resides in the decision makers, not random people consuming the news from the likes of Daily Star and bdnews24.

I'd have to say, people like Salman Rahman and Mahfuz Anam appear to have done pretty well for themselves :whistle:

Most BNP folks and their business supporters usually aren't too capable individuals. Yes, I've met them.

My guess is that majority genuine business people support BNP and they need to understand that unless they invest in media wing of BNP (specially english language ones) to counter RAWAMI media, country's future and as a result their business future is in jeopardy.

.
Exporters are included as well.

Any businessman that is getting rich selling out the country's interest by aligning them with AL should be target for scrutiny. National security should be above business or financial interest. So far BNP+Jamat alliance failed to raise mass consciousness about this issue and in the process they failed the people of Bangladesh.

Well, there's already criticism of BNP/Jamaat regarding that :lol:

Jamaat never undertook any effective strategy given that the AL will someday bite them hard. Similarly, Jamaat's leadership were incapable individuals as well.

Simply placed a bullseye on themselves for the incoming onslaught.

Meanwhile, Tareq was busy "making money" :lol: He also misbehaved with many senior BNP/Jamaat leaders during their rule.

I met this Tareq guy and I was unimpressed and decided not to keep in touch even though he wanted to. Unfortunate really. The father was a much more capable man. Sometimes I wonder what if this kalu decided to become his friend and confidant, BD could be a different place.

The biggest problem we have, like many other under developed countries, is lack of capable and quality individuals who can take the country forward. There are millions upon millions of people, but few good men can be found among these millions.

But there is a way out. There are always solutions to all problems if we look hard enough.
