Bangladesh Interested in JF-17

. .
Bangladesh can't do this, can't do that! Wrong Idea. Bangladesh don't need to do anything. We are doing simple and simple is good.

And why do you think that BD airfoce will not strictly monitor the priced product like JF-17 and will let it slip into Indians' hand?

Their priced product is/will be Mig-29/Mig-29SMTs, not JFT. It'll more likely to be their second line of defense replacing Mig-21s.

The J-11B is fitted with Chinese WS-10A.

No, China has almost abandoned or is still experimenting with WS-10A engine which so far has alluded Chinese dream to build its own engine. It is a completely unreliable jet engine. It has serious problem with thrust that slows down its rise to sky after taking off, which is a very important factor to win a battle. China tried to copy the Russian engine AL-31F and named it WS-10A.

Western countries went through many decades of metallurgical trials and errors before they came up with so many different reliable engines. China will have to go a long way, may be 10 or 20 years, before it is able to build jet engines for military use.

Khor, kaiseiii bateiiin kar rahii ho ?

An India friendly government (Awami League) is forever there whether its this term or the next one & so it is foolish to assume that they aren't going to allow significant access to the JF-17s to the Indians the way we are speculated to get for the many aircraft in Arab or Chinese inventory !

And even the BNP isn't 'Anti-India & Pro-Pakistan' but more of being 'neutral' on Pakistan !

How can we then risk something like this ?

i think at this situation being neutral is a gud thing.

We retired MiG-21s more than a decade ago.

Meh.....BD's best choice for now is a combination of Hi-Lo.

Sources of this claim please?

It is true though that the Chinese turbojet engine technology and production hasn't fully matured yet. It takes decades to fully get a grasp of the whole thing.

That engine hasn't matured fully yet, but there is no evidence that they abandoned the entire thing.

Then what is J7??

J-7 is F-7 :D

Meh!!! F-7s does look a lot like Mig-21s to distinguish.

There are differences :azn:

Guys, I know that this will hurt the sentiments and expectation of many members of this forum but I think Bangladesh if at all want to purchase fighters from China, they should go for j 10 because of these following reasons:-

Jf-17 has a very small cone where radars are fit even way smaller than LCA Tejas. Currently the radar fitted with it can track target of 5m2 from 105 km distance but considering that in PAF, it is to play as a front line fighter, these type of radar is totally not accepted, and small nose cone means in future too if the radar is updated, the antenna fitted with it will still be comparatively small, which means it will never able to compete with it's adversaries and in battlefield will totally dependent on AWACS platform.

Unlike modern day fighters, it's body is totally made of metals instead of composites, which increases RCS upto 3-5 times of modern day fighters thus putting it's RCS in the range 4m2 -5m2 which is way to large.:undecided:

It's avionics is also no where close to modern day fighters.

It is a stable FBW design which reduces maneuverability thus making it a poor air superiority fighter.

It's weapon trial has yet not taken place except dropping guided and unguided bombs.

It can carry only 3 ton of payload which is worrysome for BD as they will not be using it in one kind mission or for limited roles.

It has small wing area, thus adding extra load per unit surface area which means it will not have high lift.

No radar absorbing paint on it.
