Newly-appointed Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has said his country wants to take the partnership between Bangladesh and India to its desired goal.
“As the Foreign Minister of India, I am committed to reaching the goal of partnership that was decided by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman between the two neighbouring countries since the inception of Bangladesh’s independence,” Jaishankar wrote in a letter to his Bangladeshi counterpart Abdul Momen.
The relationship between the two countries has reached a new dimension and it has been possible due to the farsighted leadership of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said in the letter that was sent on June 4.
Jaishankar also expressed his willingness to visit Bangladesh immediately.
