I think most of the Indians don't know anything about how bravely Bangladeshis fought for liberation. You glorify your soldiers but never gave tiniest credit to the freedom fighters of Bangladesh. I agree 100% that it was also Indo-Pak war but the main war was fought between West Pakistan and East Pakistan (Bangladesh). Just give credit to Bangladeshis while celebrating vijay Diwas. Nobody will have problem with it. Just say Pakistan surrendere to Indian and Bangladeshi joint forces.

Although i agree it was a joint venture, the logistics, training, weaponry and plan was all by Indian army. In simple words they lead the war.

But the point is, we celebrate Vijay divas for our role in the war. You can do the same.

Being half Indian my view is that during the atrocities and mass murderers being done to people of East Pakistan, India due to it's own interest (very poor country serving with mass migration challenge) appealed to United Nations and all other western Nations however they not only decided to ignore India's problems but also decided to stay away from East Pakistan's (Bengali's) plight. To support their own interests India engaged East Pakistan and liberated to now called Bangladesh.

The primary objective of India was to ensure mass migrations stops which they achieved. Hence 'Vijay Diwas' is meant for India only and is for our internal consumption. I don't see anywhere (even in the tweet) that 'We liberated Bangladesh' or 'We annexed Bangladesh from Pakistan' or 'India the Bangladesh Creator' etc etc since it will not be true. We are just remembering sacrifices of our people who laid down their lives for India (not for Bangladesh). You are free to remember your victory your way. IMO without MuktiBahini victory wouldn't be started and without India victory could not have been achieved. They both get equal credit imo.

The politicans from west Pakistan tried to negate the mandate of Bengalis by unifying one part against them. Bengalis were the supporters of a Muslim homeland in SA from the very get go (referendum of Sylhet which saw a majority for E.Pak), we just left a Bengali Muslim state after the 1757 debacle and yearned for the return of a Muslim state because of Hindu domination politically and socially so how could you say we were not staunch Muslims? It was easy to separate not because of distance but because of snakey politicians who wanted power. The civil war broke out because of politics, AL won most seats and the West Pak elites could not let that happen (Yahya Khan) these guys were racist to the bone but note there was 3 Bengali presidents way before them (Iskandar, Khawaja and someone else forgot name).

Hopefully when the time is right we will annex the Rakhine state to make it the ultimate Muslim country in SA, if that is what the Rhuhingyas want.
