Kolkata, Feb 16 (PTI) Bangladesh Saturday condemned the Pulwama attack and said it stands with India in its fight against terror.
Forty CRPF personnel were killed and five injured in one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, when a Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into their bus in Pulwama district.
"We condemn the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir which led to the death of 40 CRPF troopers. We stand by India in its fight against terror," Bangladesh Information Minister Hasan Mahmud told reporters at Kolkata Press Club after paying floral tributes to the photograph of those killed in the attack.
When asked if Pakistan should be isolated in the international fora for orchestrating the attack on security forces, Mahmud said "We condemn whoever is involved in this terror attack. We strongly criticize them".
The minister also said Bangladesh has been fighting against terror and its security agencies have been cooperating and exchanging inputs with their Indian counterparts.
"Bangladesh, too, has been fighting against terror and in this fight we have always cooperated with India. In Bangladesh, too, there have been terror attacks and we have taken steps to curb the terror activities on our soil," Mahmud said.
When asked about Bangladesh-based terror outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) crossing over to India, he said Bangladesh has taken several steps to curb terror activities on its soil.
"We have taken several steps to curb terror activities on our soil. They no longer have a fertile ground for breeding in Bangladesh, that may be the reason they are trying to cross over to India. But our security agencies have been cooperating and exchanging inputs with Indian agencies in order to track down those terrorists," Mahmud said.
He added that there was a pressing need to fight against terrorist attacks regionally and globally.
"The Bangladesh government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working with India and other countries as well. Whoever is linked or patronising this kind of attacks, we condemn everyone," he said.
The minister added that all the terrorist groups have their own regional and global networks.

Terrorism must be countered at global and regional levels: Bangladesh Minister

IANS | Kolkata | Last Updated at February 16 2019 23:50 IST

Bangladesh Information Minister Hasan Mahmud on Saturday condemned the terror attack on a paramilitary convoy in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 49 troopers and said terrorism has to be countered globally and regionally.

"We condemn the attack.. the Bangladesh government has officially condemned it. Terrorism is a global problem. We have been suffering because of terrorism. I am also a victim of terrorist attack," he said at a get-together event organised by the Kolkata Press Club.

The suicide attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy carrying troopers towards Srinagar had blown up a bus when an explosive-packed SUV rammed into it, causing the death of some 40 troopers at the spot on Thursday. Nine injured succumbed subsequently.

Mahmud said that all the terrorist groups have their own regional and global networks but his country was cooperating with India against the threat.

"So, we need to fight against terrorist attacks regionally and globally. Bangladesh government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working with India and other countries as well. Whoever is linked or patronising this kind of attacks, we condemn everyone," he said.

Asked whether Pakistan should be isolated in the international forums following the Pulwama attack,he did not respond.

He said there are terrorist groups like Harkat-ul-Jihad, Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and many others which were fomenting disturbance in Bangladesh but their activities have now been effectively contained.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina effectively contained (terrorists) attacks. We would not say that we have completely eradicated all these terrorist groups. (But) They are controlled," he said.

Asked about the alleged Bangladeshi terrorists from JMB being arrested in India, Mahmud said both the countries are cooperating each other and security agencies from both the countries have been coordinating and sharing information.

According to him, his country has taken several steps to curtail terror activities on its soil.

"As we have taken several steps to curb terror activities on our soil, they no longer have a fertile ground for breeding in Bangladesh, that may be the reason they are trying to cross over to India," he added.

So why do you guys glorify Mukti Bahini and Awami League actions in 1971 ?

Hypocrisy here by likes of you and Hasina Wajid is so preposterous

The two situations are not really interchangeable, although some of you are trying to draw parallels in a forcible manner. East Pakistan was a part of Pakistan because the inhabitants of EP decided to create Pakistan together with West Pakistanis.

In fact the brain trust of the whole Pakistan movement was in East Pakistan with political and intellectual heavyweights like Iskander Mirza, Khwaza Nazimuddin, Suhrawardy, Sher-e-Bangla etc. It was never a disputed area like Kashmir which you can thank the British and your friend Nehru for mucking up. The day the Army took over Pakistan - the downward spiral began. It is continuing to this day. Pakistan will never prosper until whomever rules Pakistan realizes the issue.

We can argue until kingdom come whether the betrayal in 1971 (gaddari) was the then Pakistani Army's and the then leadership's in Islamabad (for letting loose the full force of a battle equipped army over an unarmed population in East Pakistan) or the East Pakistanis (as West Pakistanis claim to be) because they simply fought back to defend their motherland instead of surrendering like sheep.

Were the Bengalis simply supposed to don prayer caps and march back into the Masjid? Instead of fight for their rightful self rule and independent assured future, which they had already decided, by the time the army crackdown began?

PA could have walked off and had the Islamabad leadership transfer power to the Sheikh peacefully. But unfortunately the Pakistani 'honor' sh*t kicked in and Niazi had to 'teach the Bengalis a lesson' before the inevitable surrender. The myth that Bengalis are 'meek' also played into this equation.

In the end who learned the lesson of this block-headed behavior of the Pakistan Army? Does 'honor' mean the largest mass surrender since WWII and a humiliating defeat? You should thank the Indians that a civilized surrender took place, otherwise if it was up to the Muktis and Qaderia force et al, no PA soldier would've gotten out alive in December 1971.

The Indians made sure that UN conventions for wartime behavior were followed through, although PA never followed any such convention during the war, using cowardly tactics to kill unarmed civilians en masse.

To compare the rightful struggle to claim a whole country with whatever is going on in Kashmir is a fool's errand.

We wrested freedom by paying a heavy price and will pay it again if need be. Talking about 'honor' is cheap, doing something about it is where it's at.

What terrorists do is target innocent unarmed civilian and semi-armed 'easy pray' targets instead of having a coordinated fight (both conventional and wars of attrition) with armed troops and belligerents, which is what the Muktis did.

Your coward army folks never told you that the fighting toward the last three months in 1971 was so intense that the PA was essentially cooped up in their barracks defending themselves and Muktis laid siege outside cantonments and controlled almost 90% of the territory outside cantonments. Let that be a lesson going forward to anyone trying any misadventures.

Freedom fighters and terrorists are two different sets of people.

Here is the lyrics of a personal favorite by Mark Knopfler (so appropriate in the Mukti's case),

"I'm a soldier of freedom in the army of man
We are the chosen, we're the partisan
The cause it is noble and the cause it is just
We are ready to pay with our lives if we must

Gonna ride across the river deep and wide
Ride across the river to the other side

I'm a soldier of fortune, I'm a dog of war
And we don't give a damn who the killing is for
It's the same old story with a different name
Death or glory, it's the killing game

Gonna ride across the river deep and wide
Ride across the river to the other side

Nothing gonna stop them as the day follows the night
Right becomes wrong, the left becomes the right
And they sing as they march with their flags unfurled
Today in the mountains, tomorrow the world

Gonna ride across the river deep and wide
Ride across the river to the other side....."

Hasina needs to shut the f*up.

This was a legitimate attack on Indian occupation troops.

Ignore the statement as majority of BD people are against the Indian occupiers.

Le bhai, when we dont criticise india for its state sponsored terrorism against "Kashmiri civilians". Then why we are criticising or even commenting on attack against indian "combatants on duty"?

Anyways, Im expecting a war from india! They should fight with Pakistan instead of terrorising Kashmiri civilians.

Thank you brothers for siding with the truth.

Dhaka, Feb 15 (UNB) - Bangladesh has strongly condemned the dastardly terrorist attack on an Indian paramilitary convoy in Pulwana District of Jammu and Kashmir.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in a message addressed to her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi said, “On behalf of the people and the government of Bangladesh, and on my own behalf, let me convey our heartfelt condolences for the loss of lives of more than 37 CRPE troops......"

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, who is now in Geneva, tweeted the message that was sent from Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.

“We stand by the people and the government of India. We offer our condolences to the members of the families who lost their dear ones. Our thoughts and prayers are for speedy recovery of those who got injured," reads the message.

Bangladesh, according to the message, remains steadfast in its commitment against terrorism of all forms and manifestations and maintains a zero tolerance policy against all kinds of terrorist activities.

“Bangladesh would continue to work and cooperate with international community including India to eradicate menace of terrorism," the message reads.

The message, dated February 14, was sent through Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

On Thursday, suicide bombers carried out attacks on a paramilitary convoy in Kashmir leaving 41 people dead.

Yep disgusting , her own family used methods similar to this to secure freedom but here she is supporting an occupation and conflict which has gone on longer than that her father was involved with.

Kashmiris live in one of the most beautiful lands on the planet but they are kept imprisoned by the Indians.

Shame on anyone that supports this occupation.
