India conveys concerns to US over 'steps to destabilise' Bangladesh govt

How would India do that? It's rather India which is dependent on Bangladesh, not the other way round.

The fact that India doesn't have any leverage on Bangladesh is the reason why they want Hasina to stay in power.

Here are three ways India can scupper things:

1. Stop cotton exports as well as exports of other essentials.
2. Reduce water flow
3. Stop Bangladeshi imports altogether - worth about two billion

That would be enough to send Bangladesh into a recession.

It could also encourage the Burmese to attack Bangladesh.

If you think Hinduvta cares about losing trade - you are deluded!

Since coming to power - Modi has put Hinduvta above trade.

If you want to see how Hinduvta can strangle you - look no further than what it has done to Pakistan.

From visa restrictions on everyone of Pakistani heritage (roped in British Pakistani IT workers) to funding terrorism on Pakistani soil.

The hubris and delusion of PDF Bangladeshis is akin to the hubris I see in the average Pakistani.

It’s also similar to the hubris of English Brexiters towards the EU.

With the refrain, “they sell us more so they need us”

How did that work out with 10+ inflation?

1. India isn't the only source of cotton and apparel for Bangladesh.

2. As a downstream country, Bangladesh can take the case to UN. Alternatively, we can go for the Chinese projects to build dams downstream to preserve water in dry season, which India is scared of. We don't need to be held hostage by anyone.

3. Bangladesh export to India is insignificant. Rather it will be Indians who will lose a huge business if they become hostile and stop doing business. Even during BNP Jamaat rule, the trade between the two countries continued. Indians are far too savvy to chop off their source of income.

I didn't bother reading the rest of your rant borne out of your submissive and slavish mentality.

So your point is Bangladesh should always listen to and give up it's own self interest for that of India's? So if tomorrow India asks Bangladesh to assimilate, we should just do it because they can "scupper" things?

You become a slave to India all you want, but don't expect the same from the rest of us.

What is your alternative magic source of cotton?

You would make a fortune supplying garment manufacturers around the world!

What you doing on PDF 🤣🤣

Your assertion about Bangladesh going to UN exposes your naïveté!

Hinduvta Indian is running in the Republican primary. Could easily win it if Trump is forced out.

And then it’s 50:50 for the presidency.

And a Hinduvta Indian is already U.K. PM.

Don’t underestimate Hinduvta’s ability to shape U.K./US foreign policy especially in South Asia.

Idiot Muslims underestimated Jews and look what happened!!!

Fascist Whites are using brown Hindus as cover to do and say things - was unthinkable 20 years ago.
Hindutva unchecked is an existential threat to BD.

There should be no illusion about hindutva.... there is no difference between it and the indians in general as one can see the total lack of any hindu voice against the accelerating total marginalisation of muslims in india.

BD has to play the balancing act vis-a-vis china.

Having said that sunak has no real power.... he has not won any election and very unlikely to survive the next election.

US, one is hoping trump wins.... whatever can be said about him, he did not start any war.

Ramaswamy will fall off the radar.... US is complicated with 50 states. I do not really rate his chances.

If you don't have a clue about something, just refrain from posting about it. Bangladesh have been importing cotton from multiple countries, including from the US.

US

Africa

Your assertion of submitting to India's will exposes where your loyalty lies.

Lol, you are just parroting the same shit that those low-IQ Indians keep saying. Now If Bangladesh stops exporting RMG you think the Americans and Europeans will roam around naked? lol

India can't do anything more with the rivers than they are already doing. Stop the flow and the siltation will cause flood in their own place.

And India doesn't even feature in the top 5 destinations of Bangladesh's exports, while Bangladesh is the fourth largest export market for India. As I said, it is India which is dependent on Bangladesh.

A well articulated response from you Species bhai.:-)

there is no hostility between India and Bangladesh, other than all PDF Bangladeshis.. what India wants is a safe and secure Bangladesh, who should also grown fast to take care of its citizens.. people who would doubt India's ability to introduce friendly govt in neighbourhood, look at example in Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka, Bangladesh and Maldives,, (even Pakistan :) )

Oh the delusion!

It is not India's job to introduce anything to any of their neighbouring countries. Period. Absolutely no one has given India any mandate to interfere in their internal matters. Would it be acceptable to you if Bangladesh and Pakistan jointly tried to install a Islamic Shariah government in India?

No one's talking about hostility here. We are talking about interference in our internal matters because of India's hegemonic ambition. If you think you know people of Bangladesh so well, just book a flight and go and ask their opinion of India's politics in the streets. While you are at it, ask the people of Nepal and Sri Lanka too what they think of your geopolitical ambitions.

If we were to talk about hostility - I could go in length on that too. From funding and training the Chittagong Hill Tracts separatists to indiscriminate border killings, India has shown a lot of hostility for a so called "friendly" neighbor.

No one has anything against peace loving average citizens of India. We get along absolutely fine on a personal level. So if you do make the trip, you will be welcomed to Bangladesh. But if you try to interfere and inject your "dadagiri" in our internal affairs, you will find your welcome wearing out real soon.

No hostility you say..... but no compulsion in imposing governments against the ppls wishes... curious

Do you believe India pays attention to the UN? During the 1971 war, the UN urged India to halt the conflict and leave East Pakistan, but India disregarded the UN's stance and declared East Pakistan as an independent nation. This was the same region that the UN had earlier recognized as part of Pakistan.

Read the entire post. Clearly I recognize you are not civil enough to resolve it in UN through discussion. Hence we should go for alternative downstream dam per Chinese suggestion.

There are 54 common rivers between Bangladesh and India. So, how many dams do we have to build as India is diverting waters from almost all of the common rivers.

We don't need to build a dam in every single river. We only need to build on the major one - Ganga / Padma. But that plan is stalled now because BAL cannot go against Indian wishes.
