Bangladesh Air Force evaluating new 'Fighter-Trainer' aircrafts for purchase

Thats precisely me and some other members are asking.

Upload the PDF file on this thread.

The Patti Samosa that we eat, is not supposed to be spicy to begin with.

I already uploaded the PDF file on post #45

Still why are you crying the same thing over and over again?

And don't bring that F-18 issue here,no one claimed we are buying F-18s.Its only your assumption. In addition, that thread was basically speculation.Nothing concrete,as I and some other members had constantly mentioned about it.

This is a different thread.

If they are evaluating in the right way then they might have gone for a better one like JF-17 D Dual seater with some of about 100 single seaters. But can any one tell me how many trainers they require?????????

Thank you I am satisfied.

As far as F-18 thread goes, revisit the thread and see yourself who claimed what.

I am surprised to read the M-346 is being evaluated but not YAK-130.

in my personal opinion BAF should stay away from BAE HAWK and T-50.

Choose from L-159/Chinese or M-346.

Bangladesh Air Force is to get 32 advanced fighter jets by 2021. Aircraft that are being considered are MiG-29CMT, Lockheed Martin F-16 and Su-30 and the Saab JAS-39.

According to information published in the journal «Jane's Defence Weekly», became aware that Shah Mohammad Ziaur Rahman (Marshal and Chief of Air Staff, Bangladesh), said at an international conference in London on 2011 that his country intends to buy 16 brand new F-7BGI fighter jets from China. Their preparation is expected in 2012. Details of the contract on purchase of F-7BGI aircraft, remained undisclosed. It is assumed that these will replace the outdated fighter bombers A-5C, now in the service.

Based on statements by the commander of Air Force Staff of Bangladesh, an improved version of F-7 the F-7BGI, created by a Chinese company, known as the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group, characterized the best on-board equipment. There is a control stick HOTAS, three indicators (multi-) in the cockpit and one on the windshield. Weapon system includes bombs (guided) capable of induced by GPS. Judging from these descriptions, we can safely conclude that, in a sense, the production of the MiG-21 does not stop now.

It should be noted that the Bangladesh Air Force in 2006, has received 16 fighters of earlier versions grade F-7BG, who produced all the same Chinese company, as well as four combat-capable aircraft grade FT-7BG. A little earlier, from 1989 to 2000, the air force acquired an additional 16 fighters marks F-7MB, and 8 training version FT-7MB. Incidentally, today in the ranks stay single machine (23sht.) and 8 trainers. And all of them are registered for the squadrons of 35 and 5 on the Dhaka-Kurmitola Air Base.

According to Shah Mohammad Ziaur Marshal Rahman, the purchase of aircraft F-7BGI will be for a transitional period, because in the next 13-15 years, the Air Force intends to acquire a new generation of fighters (32 unit). The options being considered is the MiG-29CMT, Lockheed Martin F-16 and Su-30 and the Saab JAS-39. In addition, the Air Force plans to upgrade 8 MiG-29 that were purchased back in 1999, and of course, buy a new trainer for advanced training in order to replace the existing L-39.

Considering the fact that BAF is going to procure one of the four (Mig-29CMT/SU-30/F-16/JAS-39) and total number shall be 32 as according to "Janes", I think the Advanced Jet Trainers shall not be anything better than L-159 Alca.

A link would have proved the news to be concrete.

I thought the F-7 productions were closed, so we are getting more F-7s? It would be interesting to look at the specifications of these new variants.

I think they would go with L-159s to replace the existing L-39s.They are the upgraded versions of L-39s.They could be used as light fighters as well.

I am bit surprised not to find J-10s or Jf-17s in the list. However, among the 4, I would love to see Gripens for BAF. It would be unwise to go for Mig-29s or Su-30.

According to Chinese members here, the export production models are still in limited active production. They are no longer manufactured for the PLAAF. In time, they'd be replaced by FC-1 production lines according to them.

That's be awesome :woot:

Gripen is a good fighter. Small, single-engined, agile, good electronics, has AESA option, and fires the AMRAAM :smokin:

I think some people are just looking at the one-time investment costs. What they don't realize is that the total operating costs over time in the aircraft's whole life constitutes a huge part of the cost. It is clearly stated that the BAF's most important factor is cost, this doesn't only mean the one-time investment cost. It also refers to the recurring costs of the aircraft's total life.

Twin-engined aircraft like MiG-29 and SU-30 will always be more expensive to maintain relative to single-engined ones like the F-16 and Gripen. And as far as the F-16 being like an 'iPod' or just fragile, they can be modified to suit the end-user's requirements.
Saying that all US-made aircraft are fragile and dumb is just a broad generalization. For example, the Irani F-14 Tomcats were designed to be extremely durable in Iran's harsh climate. And they still fly high to this very day even in light of sanctions.

Although, one potential drawback we might have to address is the strings attached to the Gripen. Nearly 20% of the components required to make the Gripen are of US-origin. That's apply the same to the F-16. But, since we are a small country, I don't think this should affect us too much. And we generally have good relations with the US, and have more space to improve it.

Although, they are generally more expensive on a one-time basis compared to Russian or Chinese aircraft. Gripen is currently the very best light combat aircraft out there today.

Whatever aircraft we choose, they must be able to complement well with our existing equipment, such that data communications are clear and present no bottlenecks whatsoever.

This idune has a one track mind. He does not believe in the development of BD and he also does not want a strong military for BD. His only hobby is to bash AL in almost all the threads in a foreign Forum like PDF. He always disgraces BD in every opportunity.

I also wonder. idune sounds like a grumpy fellow :P

.
He must go for K-8 (Pakistani) Trainer Jet.............that's good for BD its cheap and good as performance wise.

.
I would opt for Chinese made. In that way we will get it cheap, and chinese will help in if there is a mechanical problem. Also, out of two chinese version, one of trainer jet if it could be used in war as a fighter jet, choose that.

I disagree. What he said about Awami traitors about two years is coming true.

Like many, he is frustrated with Awamis anti-Bangladesh activities. Awami must go otherwise we do not have bright future ahead of us.

Why some of you guys always try to distract a thread from its intended purpose to AL bashing? If you are so dissatisfied with AL, then start a new thread. We will participate in that. But, this is not an anti-AL thread. It should be kept as it is. And nobody really reads you guys' whining all the time. You make the Indians happy. A post must be substantive.

BAF should be careful with czech aircrafts as they have a high rate of accidents.
