Bangladesh: A Closer Look at Hunger and Undernutrition

Last segment Laksam-Akhaura 72 km section double track will be completed by 2020, after it entire Dhaka-Chattogram line 325 km would be double track dual gauze. Journey time will be reduce by 2 hours.

Yes, do this double-tracking correctly and on schedule and talk of development. No one will raise a question. People have been waiting since 1947 for the double-tracking. But, when even the country is unable to do this small job, brats like you brag about Bullet Trains, Jet Planes, Airports in every Mahalla, Jamuna Tunnel, and wrong planning of Pyra Port.

Note also that the present one track line is a British time contribution. In 1947 the length was a total of 2,800 km. Now, since after 1971, it has been reduced to about 2,400 km during Golden Bangladesh period.

today it's worse than it was in October 2017

those morons build a road by first laying a course of loose bricks on the ground then coating it with an inch or 2 of tarmac and call it a paved road.

Thanks for your great input. Only one small thing missing in the anatomy picture of road structure. The thickness of asphalt paving may be kept at 5" in total for the general roads (not long speedways), and is divided into two layers, the one below is called "Base Course" that can be kept at 3", its material a little rough, the other called "Wearing Course" may be kept at 2" with a smoother look. The Coarse Aggregate must be broken stone chips instead of broken bricks as it is done in Bangladesh.

Same is also true for the two base/subbase layers below the asphalt. The thicker lowest strata should be broken stones of, say, 1" to 2" size that should be compacted with steel rollers. The little thinner upper one should be composed of about 1/2" sieve size broken stones mixed with sand and quarry wastes and compacted.

In the case of Bangladesh, they just do not study the constitution of modern road structures in the developed countries and apply a stupid old practice of laying bricks or broken bricks, instead. BD society remains inept to adopt and adapt to a developed practice, yet people in the PDF claim their country is developing. Development is not an easy feat and is not possible without adopting a good civil engineering practice which is not happening in BD, unfortunately.

Yes, almost OK. However, how about a little revision as well?

1) Conduct CBR (California Bearing Ratio) Tests on the subsoil @ of approximately 30m along the length after compaction of the existing soil of a new road to know the strength. For bad quality subsoil, it shall be replaced with select soil about 1m thick. Your drawing says of 12-24" subsoil. It is OK then.
2) The "Compacted Aggregate Base" (your drawing) course may be divided into two depending upon the frequency of the heavy truckload. The frequency is assumed for a new road.
- The bottom is a "Subbase Course" consisting of about 12" compacted aggregates of 1" to 2" stones. - The top one "Base Course" maybe 6" thick with smaller gravels, about 1/2" size sieve, mixed with sand and quarry waste and compacted.
3) The asphalt Base Course about 3" thick with a rough look.
4) The asphalt Wearing Course about 2" thick and smooth looking.
5) In the case of drainage pipe, its dia shall be calculated from the metrological Intensity of Rainfall (I), Catchment Area (A) and the derived Quantity of Rainfall (Q). Use Manning's Formula. Without a proper analysis, there will be overflow and waterlogging which is happening in Dhaka.

Short or tall, doesn't matter when they got industrial complex and superior military to boots, look at imperial Japan in the past they are such a shortie but they got guts and win the war against much taller imperial Russia and owned Imperial British till US joined the fray in pacific

Exactly, the brits didn't weren't familiar with the Burmese landscape. Japs used to hide on top of trees at night and make the English reg's drop their load.

Are you going full retard? Do we needed double line in 1947 or even 1980? This double track became only a necessity in the last 20-25 years. As only within this time our passenger traffic and goods movement for international trade exponentially increased.
Note also that the present one track line is a British time contribution. In 1947 the length was a total of 2,800 km. Now, since after 1971, it has been reduced to about 2,400 km during Golden Bangladesh period.
Another lie. How long you will continue to lie to show Bangladesh in bad lights? Current route length is 2877 km. In 1947, it was 2603 km all single track. This is in line with Sub continent's railway expansion trajectory. In 1947, India had 54,000 km railway, it is now 64,800 km. Length of the system did not increased much, but other improvement happened. Electrification, double lining etc in India. For Bangladesh, development in railway sector is less than India. But can not be said regressed. Some lines are double tracked, some converted from single gauze to dual gauze. Plus maintenance of the existent line. Otherwise those inherited 2603 km would have vanished long ago, let alone increasing by 274 km. Most important thing is, railway is now getting the due attention which was not the case earlier. So in coming years it will improve a lot.

Not another lie. The length of railway track in BD has shrunk from 2859 km in 2004 to only 2835 km in 2014 km. Almost all the entire railway system was built in the British period. How long new track was actually built by the GoB? Is it only from Dhaka to Tangail plus a few km on the other side of Jamuna Bridge?

Instead of developing or enlarging the railway, the GoB is after building a Super-tunnel under the Jamuna. Disgusting.

I never claimed things contrary to fact. It's you have been lying shamelessly and telling us millions of Bangladeshis driving cars when total registered cars in Bangladesh are around 400K
you think everyone registers car in bd? huehuehue

car tax is so shit that people are better off leaving their cars unregistered and paying of small bribes if shit hits the fan

Yes, exactly what you stated but people like @Homo Sapiens think corruption is the source of development because that money is used to construct buildings for the corrupt. So, more other cars should stop paying road tax and bribe the officials and POLICE, instead. After all, @Homo Sapiens is a patriot.

i mean corruption can sometimes be good overall... but bad mostly (money laundering and all) but if the govt. is being commies with the money people have. then people have no other option than to be corrupt

story of eastern europe basically
capitalism is fundamental for good democracy and economy' and yes at the expense of higher gap between the rich and poor... because overall the number of poor is to eventually decrease

. .
You mean most of people drive cars without number plates in Bangladesh?
nope... they're faked the registration of a vehicle often do not match with the registered model.... for example... a land cruiser sometimes is registered as a RAv 4 and so on

.
Well now what, @Two has gotten triggered and started collecting negative data and started with posting sh*t threads on Bangladesh in section.

I am not posting anything here - sorry.
Yeah it not Bangladeshi members would do the same or anything :angel:

We are not talking about which modal or make of cars is, even with wrong specification to save taxes still it get registered and add up into total number registered vehicles.

the registration papers themselves can be faked... you'll have plates on your car and papers for the police but no record of the said car existing in bd
