Bangla New Year celebrated in Islamabad

Arrey bhaiya (Ecstacy and Indian Jatt) why are you arguing with the bangladeshis.Let them think whatever they can.
Lets make it very clear to them that we are first Indian and then bengali.
I am proud to call myself Indian first and then bengali. :india:

whatever makes you happy.

This is a official new year here with a official calendar... hard to digest while you cant think anyting other than 1st of January made by your master..
I did not not want to be naked as I thought you could understand what i was trying to say.

You don't wanna but i will make u one.

The Indian national calendar (sometimes called Saka calendar) is the official civil calendar in use in India.

The term may also ambiguously refer to the Hindu calendar, and the Saka era is commonly used by different calendars as well.

Here is the link as a proof of my statement:

By above it is clear that India's national calendar is a Indian calendar and not some English calendar starting from 1st January.

So if u don't know anything about India keep you mouth shut. :victory:

No need to troll and flame and make u a laughing stroke by posting silly and idiotic post. :bunny::bunny:

hahahahah.. ok smart A$$.. just read the name of the months and their date. This is Bengali calendar only... :smitten:

Can you even say the name of the month by yourself before you brag yourself?

Adoption
The calendar was introduced by the Calendar Reform Committee in 1957, as part of the Indian Ephemeris and Nautical Almanac, which also contained other astronomical data, as well as timings and formulae for preparing Hindu religious calendars, in an attempt to harmonise this practice. Despite this effort, local variations based on older sources such as the Surya Siddhanta may still exist.

Usage officially started at Chaitra 1, 1879 Saka Era, or March 22, 1957. However, government officials seem to largely ignore the New Year's Day of this calendar in favour of the religious calendar [1].

Bangabda, a related Indic calendar

Yes our hindu community and calcutta people follow the older bengali calendar as they have some religious thing based on that. But we follow the more scientific one and the new years sometimes differ by a day with our hindu community.

Bangabda is a Bengali word means Bagla year...

Ok i would say its Indian national calendar only that you use..just read the names of the month..how much hindi do you know?? the names ironically sounds almost exactly same in your bengali as well...I know bengali and also hindi so ask me...just check it out again..its Vishakh and not Boisakh/baisakh...and the remaining months are not pronounced in a funny bengali dragging tone..I won't call Bharat as Bharot.

Can you even say the name of the month by yourself before you brag yourself?

how do you know he cant ??:azn:

U see ignorant man
,happiness increses upon sharing. The occasion happens to be a happy one. So,we like to share. That brings in a sense of fraternity and brotherhood among people.
Take an analogy;1st jan or Christmas are celebrated all over the World. No godforsaken person from no country cant say that they have taken a patent to celebrate the occasion.
I hope my analogy will enlighten u,since in this case,i m trying to enlighten someone who is a Bangladeshi.
Is everybody in ur country is a hopeless fool like u or is there some form of supelative degree as well??:sick:

Thanks for all the kind compliments. I must say you hand out choice words rather generously.

Going to the topic, its about the culture. The food is different, the outfits are different, the music and dances are different, for many folks its a new accounting period. Its a lot more than celebrating cultural diversity. You have to bring " Indian first" in your celebration, we don't have to. We are Bangladeshi, we celebrate "Bangla New Year", we don't have to drag in "we are Bangladeshi first." People fought and died for this. We are pretty serious about it.

Thats why I wrote in my earlier post, you gotta understand the culture, if you don't, you will never get it, not that there is anything wrong with that !

I understand the point that u r trying to create here.I do understand the cultural differences. But lemme tell u,when im talking about being an Indian,im talking 'bout nationality, and why shall i not be proud of it??I take pride in being a Bengali as well. This community has given the World great thinkers, men of arts and letters and leaders.
Its entirely worthless to say that some one has to be a Bangladeshi citizen to really be a part of the Bengali community. If u still think of that line ,then i guess u need some time to educate urself to learn the meaning of the term global culture.
Stop being a toad in the well, grow up,see the world, learn to share things,u will not regret it.

Diatribes does not help your arguments and the Mods here are uncompromising about it.

As I said before, you don't get it cause you don't have it.

I wish you a long life on this forum !

glad to have to have a conversation atleast, though it feels like diatribe to my counterpart.I just dont understand how the mods come into the picture if I fail to see the way u see things.

Indian Bangali intellectuals tried to establish another Calender after the partition of India. They named it HARSHABDA, in the name of Emperor Harshabardhan. It may also be Shakabda, I am not sure about that.

They took all the names of Bangla Calender months, because otherwise there would be confusions with the dates of their Puja and other religious occassions. But, they referred the year (Shal or Sal) with the birth or death of Emperor Harshabardhan.

Their main objection to Bangabda was: it was introduced by Mughal Badshah Akber sometime between 1570 to 1603, and because its counting of years is based on Muslim Hijri Shal. Hijri is a lunar Calender, but at a certain time, Akber changed it to a solar-based Shal. A person can easily find out that there is only a few years of difference between Hijri and Bangla Shal.

Akber modified the Hijri Calender and took solar calender at the advice of his Finance Minister Raja Todermal. Todermal cited that the dates and months change every year with a lunar Calender, and it becomes difficult to collect taxes by fixed dates. This Akberian Calender was introduced throughout Hindustan. In Bengal, it is called Bangla Calender and the years are called Bangabda. But, this Calender is not really special to Bangladesh or Bangali. Almost every States of india also has this Calender, but with different names.
