Dude even a sikh in Pakistan can celebrate gurpurab and I am sure Pakistanis will wish them on that occassion in their own land..does that mean they are not Pakistani?? or they should be an Indian citizen to feel proud of the occassion ??
and if its hard to explain..I am ready to listen..I am a patient man.

They are very much followed by the people who are supposed to follow it..the Indians.

You are trying to enlighten someone who is not Bangladeshi.

You can't give to a soul that doesn't understand it!

U see ignorant man, happiness increses upon sharing. The occasion happens to be a happy one. So,we like to share. That brings in a sense of fraternity and brotherhood among people.
Take an analogy;1st jan or Christmas are celebrated all over the World. No godforsaken person from no country cant say that they have taken a patent to celebrate the occasion.
I hope my analogy will enlighten u,since in this case,i m trying to enlighten someone who is a Bangladeshi.
Is everybody in ur country is a hopeless fool like u or is there some form of supelative degree as well??:sick:

Can you explain why an Indian Bengali gntleman would feel more proud to celebrate new year if he was a Bangladeshi ??

It is obvious that a New Year must be on the 1st day of the Calender. But I was asking the days with reference to the Gregorian calender. In case of BD, it is April 14 of every year.

@ Banglaseshis and Fallstuff - No issues with your festival and I hope you celebrate it nicely with the entire Bangladesh together and may this new your bring all the best times. and best wishes on this occassion...but my friends..if you just go through he thread, you can easily see how one of your senior members in a very silly manner told an Indian member that he would have felt more proud of this festival if he was a Bangladeshi...if that is the enlightment that you are talking about which only a Bangladeshi can understand..than I am thankful,I am not a Bangladeshi.I can nver ask a Hindu or a Christian or any other person from a differnt community who is a citizen of Bangladesh that he cannot enjoy his festival if he is a citizen of bngladesh and not of India or his rspective country. just an attempt to tell you how it all started. Please go through entire thread.

In most of the case the date is 14th of April or just like BD new year and many of them are near around the same date like 15th or 13th of April..wait..I'll try to get some Calendars of the respective cultures..give me some time.

Revellers attend a rally in celebration of the Bengali New Year or “Pohela Boishakh.”

In this forum, its rather difficult to know who is honestly asking for some information,or who is trying to be sarcastic to hurt the sentiments of people belonging to other nation or community. Please do not mind if I assumed things a bit too fast.:angel:

Thanks for the information. A few years back, we had also problem with fixing the date for Pahela Boishakhi. In some year, it is on 13th or 14th. In some other year, it was on 15th April. It was because the Bangla Calender was a little imperfect.

To solve this problem, our intellectuals sat together to revise the Bangla Calender. BD Govt accepted it as the official one. So, 14th April has become our New Year Day since then.
