Bangaldeshi Armoured Corps: MBTs

Go check out what PLA armor is doing in Tibet. Any day they will dash through Ha Valley and the other passes. Fyi, IA had used armor in Kashmir in '48 War.I believe IA maintains an armor brigade facing the Chinese border in Ladakh.

Did you serve out your full term?

I ask because of your phenomenal ignorance of terrain.

The PLA has deployed its armour on the Tibetan plateau, absolutely flat land. The hills of Arunachal Pradesh are sharp spurs, hostile to movement of wheeled vehicles, forget about tracked ones. The PLA mounted at least one major thrust in the east down the Baillie Trail, which followed the river- and valley-bottoms. The moment PLA armour crosses the McMahon Line, it will not be able to move except in handkerchief sized patches. The rest is deep ravines. Trying to motor to Tawang from below, even a heavy motor car barely has a few inches of clearance on the ravine side. And you talk so glibly about tank movement on those trails.

The armour used by the Indian Army during 48 was Stuart tanks, dismantled in Pathankot (I think; I don't remember), airlifted to Srinagar, re-assembled and sent to Zoji La. Do you know what a Stuart looks like?

The Indian Army has an armoured brigade in Ladakh, which has exactly the same terrain as the plateau, not like the sharp hilly spurs of Arunachal.

Here is mine:

ISLAMABAD, April 17: The first locally-produced tank gun is ready for delivery to the Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) for Al-Khalid and Al-Zarar tanks.

So far the HIT used to get 125 millimetre 'blanks' from France for the two main battle tanks (MBTs) of the Pakistan Army. Blanks are the final shape of the gun barrel prior to its finishing and its fitting into the tank is done at the HIT.

The first blank has been jointly produced at the Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC) in Taxila by experts of the HIT, the Peoples Steel Mills Limited (PSML) of Karachi and other defence-related organisations, in coordination with the army -- the end-user.

An HIT official told Dawn that the army had given a go-ahead for the production of 50 125mm barrels for the two MBTs at the HMC after a joint team assured it of meeting strict standards.

According to sources, the army and the HIT wanted the barrels to fire at least eight rounds a minute, and for the automatic ammunition handling system, with 24-round ready-to-fire magazine of Al-Khalid tank.

The official said that the manufacturing of the first 125mm tank gun was an achievement of the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) set up in 2000 to improve the control of nuclear operations and monitor and develop coordination among various defence production and research organisations in the country.

The specialised weapons grade steel was manufactured at the PSML and the block of metal was retreated at the HMC which has such facilities under the heavy forge and foundry section. The block of specialised metal is pressed to become a five-metre-long square bar that is forged into a smooth bore 125mm barrel.

The HMC also has specialised facilities of large vertical furnace where the blanks are given heat treatments several times. Since it was the first job for the HMC, experts from other defence organisations monitored the process which took almost two to three months to complete.

The HIT has finalised a deal Rs200 million for 50 barrels which is slightly less than the cost of each barrel procured from France.

The official said that after the completion of 50 tank barrels, the HMC would consider producing artillery guns for the Pakistan Army.

The new barrels are likely to be part of the project for upgraded variants of Al-Khalid II and III now under way at the HIT.

VT1A main battle tank, a twin young brother of Al-Khalid MBT? | China Defense Mashup

Pakistan spent 10' years on AK .. So don't insult us..

You are enjoying yourself, aren't you? :D

Future will tell whatever happens in the future. But, many of our tanks are stationed in the Bogra Cantonment in the NW not very far from Chinese border. Do you have any clue what strategy is there?

Less you are not aware, Bangladesh Army have 644 old + new 44 main battle tanks. Also have 140+light tanks.

....And meanwhile, XXXIII Corps is fast asleep.

Dude, as BD's economy grows(over 6% a year as we speak) it will soon be in a position to buy many more tanks and modern 4th/5th generation aircraft.

The "chickens-neck" will always be your vulnerability and BD's ultimate aim must be to use this threaten to cut the NE from mainland India in order to influence Indian behaviour.

Have you noticed, Rangpur is your vulnerability? Do you think you can stand against a push to cut that off? Do you think pushing your armour far forward doesn't expose your flanks? Do you think nobody can read a map other than a silly fanboy sitting and jumping up and down in Britain?

As for where we can run which tanks:

Welcome to the forum newbie.

BD currently has the money to buy 100 4th generation planes if it wanted to. The budget could afford it but it rather would not as it rather spend the money to tackle poverty.

Unlike India, BD cares about its population instead of spending billions buying military hardware that is not likely to use.

Welcome to discussions about military matters, newbie.

Has anyone informed your puissance that it is pilots who matter, not planes?

Not this is not true. BD economy is 180 billion dollars. At current growth rates India adds 100 billion dollars a year.

What does it matter that the majority of China's forces are in the East, they have plenty of fire-power in Tibet to force India to spend huge resources to station forces on the Chinese border. China's military is many, many times more powerful than India's.

btw - Where the hell did Singapore come against China as it is over thousand miles away from China?

How much fire-power does the PLA have stationed permanently in Tibet? Any idea? Other than waffling?

chicken neck corridor is more vulnerable bro :D

.
You want to cut NE through chicken neck, what about total blockade of BD, what about if India starts arming Myanammar, then you too facing two front war.

What the nincompoop post misses is that the Myanmar Army can clean up Bangladesh.

Think about it. Seriously. Do you suppose that the forces that go forward are going to be like an elastic band? Or do you think that they will move forward and leave enough space behind them as they move forward? Do you think that Bangladesh can stand out against a flank attack against two flanks? What will your column do against the Chicken's Neck when they themselves are cut off? And what will they do, after being cut off from their fuel and food, once the IAF decides to put its foot down?

I've never heard of a stupider plan.

Joe saab you are quoting some 2 year old posts :)

Why not? I'm loving it.

not wise analysis from person like you :disagree:

Please feel free to criticise the analysis. What did I say wrong?

No-one is jumping up and down dude.

Calm down as you are taking this talk too seriously:crazy:

How much fire-power does the PLA have stationed permanently in Tibet? Any idea? Other than waffling?

China has enough firepower in Tibet to make the Indians quake in their boots and that is all that matters.

. .
I take every talk seriously.

Ok take it seriously. Chicken neck is vulnerable. But why on earth we would attack it? Our only job is to close any transit over Bangladesh when China takes it out.
