Khaleda Zia will not be able to call on the visiting Indian President Pranab Mukherjee due to her security concerns during the Jamaat-called general strikes, a spokesman said early Sunday afternoon.

The Leader of the Opposition was scheduled to meet Mukheree at 4.30pm Sunday, but a senior aide had already told the High Commission that she would not be able to make it, the spokesperson said.

“Vice Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury has informed the Indian High Commissioner of her decision,” the spokesperson said. “There are security issues during the strike.”

Mobin Chowdhury confirmed bdnews24.com about the decision.

”The courtesy call is scheduled to held at a time when the Jamaat is enforcing a shutdown,” he said. “We have informed the Indian High Commission Khaleda will not be able to reach Sonargaon Hotel due to security reasons,”

i find no proofs for what u say..can u provide me with some?? or do u really believe that just because our president visits ur country means interfering in ur affars??beacause representative of every visits some country or the other does that mean every country interferes in other's affairs??india never supported any genocide in bangladesh..its the people of bangladesh who are demanding to hang the people who murdered,raped and robbed ur people and opposed the formation of ur country ..i think thats pretty patriotic..do u support them??just curious

Well I suppose tiny nations need these tiny "victories" to keep up their self esteem.

The OPPOSITION leader doesn't meet the Indian president because she is too scared to step out of her home, and some Bangladeshis here are celebrating as if they have conquered the world.

Insignificance can lead to these situations, such trivial protests are the greatest "victories" some nations can hope to achieve.
