Ban on sheesha cafes extended

let people decide for themselves what to do and what not to do......even in Saudi Arabia they have shisha places for Gods sakes.

of course shisha in my opinion is something you should only do once in a while......any smoking is bad. I'm a struggling quitter, so i know how bad it is. But to outright ban it i think is extreme. Next they should ban paan shop also?

.
I agree with Leader. As long as there is demand for shisha, the supply will emerge in one way or the other. Better have a proper open shisha cafe than "dedicated houses". Far more dodgy things take place in such houses than they would in open shisha cafes.

Along with this another factor to be considered is the "rebel" tag which arises when something is prohibited. Many teenagers will feel "cool" doing something that they know is prohibited, hence in essence the ban ends up creating more demand for the product rather than reducing it.

If the government really is serious about the health of the youth then it needs to provide alternatives, say grounds for sports, gyms etc. Youngsters will always gather and socialize in some way. Shisha cafes are hence great places for them to sit together and "chill" for a couple of hours. If you aren't going to let them socialize outside the house in such shisha cafes and at the same time provide no alternatives then you only have yourself to blame if the prohibition is a failure.

.
I doubt health has anything to do with the decision.

I would bet the government took this precaution not to let Sheesha Cafe's obtain the status of Tea house.
Where young ( Internet && social media savvy ) people could convene and propagate political will.
