Since most of them are owned by muslims, asking them to follow the norms of pollution is next to impossible.
This is a blessing if these industries go extinct and ones that follow the prescribed environmental norms come into existence.

Stupid analogy.
The right analogy is that a patient is loosing his leg and doctor is worried about the headache the patient has.
Here, the river is the leg. India is already facing acute water shortage. The need of yesterday was to clean our rivers. We can live with less money in our pockets but I am not sure how one can live without water!

Oh brilliant mind. How about creating the infrastructure for Industrial sewage treatment and creating and enforcing the laws on those industries to maintain international norms in waste management ?
Rivers are getting polluted because our awesome corrupt system is allowing sewage and waste directly in to the rivers without any treatment.
