One of the Prime Minster Narendra Modi’s greatest successes was in handling cross-border terrorism and the finesse with which the Balakot aerial strike was conceived and implemented which “blew away the myth of Pakistan’s nuclear blackmail”, writes National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who was in the operational cockpit during both the surgical land strikes of 2016 and the Balakot aerial strikes 2019.

Doval went on to warn that while the first two counter strikes were land-based and aerial, “tomorrow, it may be different from both” if the adversary again causes disproportionate casualties. “Domain and level will not be inhibiting factors,” writes Doval in the chapter, “Tackling adversaries through strong and effective national security policies” in the book ‘Modi@20’ unveiled on Wednesday.

The lack of response to the numerous incidents of bombings in Indian cities during the UPA era had agitated Modi ever since he was Gujarat chief minister. The decision not to retaliate for the Mumbai attacks had earned India the “infamous nomenclature” of being a “soft state”. “The first-of-its-kind operations after Uri enhanced India’s global prestige. It caused panic in the adversary’s mind and momentarily disrupted terror training and planning of more attacks,” he said.

Revealing more details on 2016 surgical strikes, Doval recalled that it was a simultaneous operation by multiple strike teams at four disparate locations. The novel planning for the strike generated chaos, panic and confusion by creating the “enemy is everywhere syndrome”. The then Pakistan Army leadership castigated its ground formations for failing to block even one strike team, despite having a large number of forward deployed troops. More importantly, it was a political call by the Prime Minister, “which meant that he was taking responsibility, not only for success, but also failure. This exhibited risk-taking at the highest level—a quality shown by very few”.

The PM’s striking characteristic has been his ability to approach national security matters from a long-term strategic perspective. He has an uncanny futuristic sense, and observes risks and opportunities that are often missed even by experts, affirms the NSA.

Pakistan counter strike brought Indian ground open defecation into the limelight and exposed the shortage of toilets in India.

I guess india realized that Pakistani generals are corrupt beghairats. See how our chief beghairat keeps begging them for peace and when china thumped india and put them in pressure, this chief beghairat went on to do a ceasefire with them.
They now know that these property dealers dont want to fight and can be bought easily.

Mike Pompeo has confirmed in his book that Balakot strikes carried out by India. He also confirms that Pak shot down one plane and captured a prisoner (not two).

@Skull and Bones @Hecig @The BrOkEn HeArT @Windjammer

India's warplanes pounded a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist training camp in Balakot in Pakistan in February 2019 in response to the Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF jawans.

"I'll never forget the night I was in Hanoi, Vietnam when - as if negotiating with the North Koreans on nuclear weapons wasn't enough - India and Pakistan started threatening each other in connection with a decades-long dispute over the northern border region of Kashmir," Pompeo says.

"After an Islamist terrorist attack in Kashmir- probably enabled in part by Pakistan's lax counterterror policies - killed forty Indians, India responded with an air strike against terrorists inside Pakistan. The Pakistanis shot down a plane in a subsequent dogfight and kept the Indian pilot prisoner," he said.

"In Hanoi, I was awakened to speak with my Indian counterpart. He believed the Pakistanis had begun to prepare their nuclear weapons for a strike. India, he informed me, was contemplating its own escalation. I asked him to do nothing and give us a minute to sort things out (sic)," Pompeo writes in his book, which wrongly refers to Swaraj as "he".

My opinion:
If our assessment was 300 killed, I think a chicken$hit dogfight in return is a pretty acceptable retaliation. It would have been serious if our pilot had died but that didn't happen, so all ok I guess.

So they wanted a shaheen 3 up their backside for 3 trees and a crow?

If the myth was blown away, why didn’t IAF continued on the escalator ladder after IA HQ was bombed, air space openly violated and a Mig21 shot down? This despite the numerical and technological superiority on IAF side. The fact India let it go after the pilot was returned shows the nuclear deterrence worked.

This cartoon also claim that he didn't believe in Pak Army assessment that Afghanistan national army would collapse so fast

It clearly says 'we were building our retaliation'

If the myth was blown away, why didn’t IAF continued on the escalator ladder after IA HQ was bombed, air space openly violated and a Mig21 shot down? This despite the numerical and technological superiority on IAF side. The fact India let it go after the pilot was returned shows the nuclear deterrence worked.

Pompeo, Imran Khan....no one claimed IA HQ was bombed. That's just a fantasy that the fanboys here cooked up. Even top pak journalists (like Pirzada) have claimed that defused dumb bombs were dropped as a symbolic genture.

People dying in Balakot was a pipe dream by Modi’s India.

Even a few deaths in Balakot would have exposed Pakistan’s narrative. It was well documented that Indians missed the target and the building was an abandoned school.

The PAF dropped bombs ‘near’ Indian ammo dumps in Rajouri and Poonch sectors. The video was shown by Pakistani officials.

The Indian airforce completely shutdown and the army was put into action to deploy missiles. The Pakistani replied with same. And then the Indian navy resorted to incursions into Pakistani waters.

The Indian escalation essentially stopped post PAF strike. Hence the equilibrium was achieved. A message to the Indian army, you cannot get away with violating Pakistan’s airspace and not expect a response.
