Air defence must be built on different layers, this is one step. Besides, Long range ballistic missiles don't come cheap, on top of it there lies many strategic complications. Like Bangladesh won't be getting hands on S-300 because India will definitely veto it. These long range Sams will be hard to acquire as they may be termed as "the offensive defence system".

For yrs., I have been promoting for NATO type military alliance of Muslim countries that would supplement the individual power of 52 countries.

There shouldn't be any stone unturned on continuously building defensive shields along with offensive ability. And the lowest possible denominator should be drawn on 52 country's ability for alliance should step in. FM-90s along with HQ-9s and A-100 Batteries would be a good start then shooting for BVR capable JF-17 complemented by ZDK-03 type AWACS would be the next step to achieve some sorts of tangible deterrence IMO.

Well Gupta's were half Hindus.. Shasanka was Hindu but not a fanatics like Senas. But you are right Bengal was ruled by Hindu bigots only for couple of centuries by Senas.

I only brought Australia as an example..because u compared Bangladesh buying offensive weapons to france and australia buying the same.. I only pointed out that France and Australia are part of US-led military campaigns..bangladesh is not..and also These countries have much larger monetary and international clout than bangladesh will ever have..

Atleast the reason i talked about India w.r.t bangladesh in this article is because some Idiot over here said BD needs offensive firepower.My question is against whom? U have only two neighbours with whom u share borders.Myanmar and India. and only with Myanmar u had a serious conflict albeit small one. And issue with Myanmar is a sea-border one and not some thing u need offensice air power ..then who are u going to use ur planes against..?

Please more than half the ULFA top brass was/is hiding in BD. Only after the new gov came to power in BD, there has been in arresting or fleeing of ULFA leaders to other countries..

I have seen it near biswa road rail crossing......only if I had a camera with me. I was totally overwhelmed at first, the road was miraculously jam-free after Eid...and suddenly my eyes fall on these babies...that was indeed a great view.

Leonblack is the 3rd person who says he has witnessed these dreadful Chinese machines on the road towards Dhaka Cantonment. Two other posters in another Forum also saw these, and one of them started a thread on it in that Forum. BD is not after offensive weapons. However, it is contemplating to buy a few squadrons of planes like J-10B or Su-35 in order to take a war to the enemy land. Offensive capability is also a necessity.

but ur offensive capability will only work if u r having a war with myanmar.....not with india(not that it's ever gonna happen!!!)!!

I couldn't count..probably 2 or 3, at least that's what i could see from my cab. We have to wait for details and pics to come out.

Two posters in another Forum said they saw four units of 6-wheeler FM-90s and a very large/long vehicle. Bangladesh Biman Bahini was inscribed on each of them, and a BAF mini bus was carrying BAF personnels in it.
