Azerbaijan Defence Programs & Military Development

Nice addition to an already relativly large fleet of drones for Azerbaijan. I just hope that our drone industry matures enough so we can export them to you guys aswell. For now, you cant get anything better then Israeli drones.
Get some armed Heron TP and Hermes 900

I don't understand the Azerbaijanis. Russians armed Armenians heavily, at least with a deadly strategic weapon like Iskander and they still buy weapons from Russians.

who else is there to buy from?

Azerbaijan has more than 100 long range MLRS that can flatten Armenian cities, 4 Iskander launchers is laughable.

Actually they are diversifying their weapons import and are investing in creating a domestic defence industry. They are buying from Russia still because most of their weaponry and standard are still Soviet era. Completely changing their weapons entirely for western or eastern equivalents would cost a crap load of money and would be a logistic nightmare. After all before Armenian bought Iskander missiles Azerbaijani was buying alot of Turkish T-122 Sakarya and T-300 Kasirga rocket systems. 4 Iskander will barrely make a difference.

nope, US and other Western countries have blocked sales of military equipment to Azerbaijan since the end of the war.

Are you sure about USA? Even it is true, what about Israel, China or S.Korea?

Yes, Israel doesn't have everything we need, a lot of their equipment is also made specifically for Israel, meaning it doesn't fit into the requirements of many countries.
China itself is not self sufficient and buys a lot of Russian equipment or relies on technological help from Russia.
Not to mention Russian quality is much better.
Azerbaijan tried buying South Korean equipment but they refused to sell due to our conflict.

Israel's Aeronautics to debut Orbiter 4 STUAS in Azerbaijan

Israeli unmanned systems manufacturer Aeronautics announced on 20 September that it will display its Orbiter 4 small tactical unmanned air system (STUAS) for the first time at the Azerbaijan International Defence Industry Exhibition (ADEX), which is scheduled to begin on 27 September in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The company said it will also showcase for the first time at ADEX a ground vehicle-based control system that is used to operate the Orbiter 1K mini-loitering munition.

The Orbiter 4, which until recently was at the advanced development stage, is a multimission intelligence platform able to carry and operate two payloads simultaneously, according to Aeronautics. It is designed to conduct surveillance, reconnaissance, and target acquisition missions. The company described the Orbiter 4 as a "covert platform" applicable to both land and maritime operations.

Aeronautics did not disclose the names of clients that had purchased the platform.

Based on the structure of the Orbiter 3 STUAS, the Orbiter 4 has a maximum endurance of more than 24 hours (more than three times that of the Orbiter 3) and a maximum take-off weight of 50 kg and uses an automatic take-off and recovery system. It can reach an altitude of 18,000 ft and navigate using GPS and datalinks or be operated independently of these systems.

A three-person crew operates the platform.

Azerbaijan and Turkey developed new anti-tank missile system based on the BRDM-2 vehicle

trend_mud_senaye_sergi_270916_63-696x465.jpg

Azerbaijan and Turkey developed new anti-tank guided missile system based on the BRDM-2 vehicle. The new anti-tank system was unveiled at 2nd Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition (ADEX 2016) in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The new anti-tank missile system developed in partnership with Turkish armor and missile manufacturer Roketsan and based on BRDM-2 personnel carrier. The new systems used UMTAS missiles.

Mizrak-U or UMTAS (Uzun Menzilli Tanksavar Sistemi) is a long range air-to-surface and surface-to-surface anti-tank missile developed by Turkish armor and missile manufacturer Roketsan.

The missile comes in two versions, one is the Turkish Antitank Missile – Long Range (TAM-LR – UMTAS), which is a long range anti-tank missile system primarily developed to operate from attack helicopter platforms; the other is the Laser – Turkish Antitank Missile – Long Range (L-TAM-LR – L-UMTAS). Both are equipped with state of the art technologies making it effective against all armoured threats of the modern battlefield.

Tactical characteristics include, day-night and all-weather operational capability; fire-and-forget and fire-and-update operation modes; the capability of target update enables, fire behind mask, fire against targets hiding behind mask, accurate aim point adjustment, and damage assessment; tandem Warhead effective against all types of heavy armoured vehicles within 8km range; effective against stationary and moving targets; wide firing envelope allows off-boresight engagement; and insensitive munition characteristics against fuel fire and bullet impact.

Roketsan’s MIZRAK-O, with its 4km maximum range and 200m minimum range, can function in all weather conditions, day and night. MIZRAK-O, which can be used in fire-and-forget and fire-and-update modes, with the elasticity provided by its target update capability, offers possibilities to fire in covered position, to fire at targets behind cover, to point precisely and to evaluate the effectiveness of the hit, can be used against fixed and moving targets.
