The problem is not Armenia, but Russia.

Russia has 3.000 soldiers, 80 tanks and 18 fighters in Armenia. They have made it clear that they will enter a war to preserve Armenia.

They have weak air force and artillery as compared to Azerbaijan.
Armenia is also weak economically.

The problem is not Armenia, but Russia.

Russia has 3.000 soldiers, 80 tanks and 18 fighters in Armenia. They have made it clear that they will enter a war to preserve Armenia.

And buying more Russian stuff will increase the problem. AZ needs more supporters.

Our influence in Azerbaijan is much more than the one in Armenia. Moreover Azerbaijan by prosecuting and killing Muslims in the country has alienated us already.

Turkey doesn't really export that much to Russia and as .a result there is quite the huge trade deficit with them. In order to soften this "imbalance" u kinda have the tourist situation but Russian tourists are anything but big spending ones.


So ur assessment on the situation with the Turkish economy is wrong

Time for Azerbaijan to align itself with NATO, Russia is not friends of muslims in contrary to some naive folks beliefs here.

What Azerbaijan should do is to further strenghten its relations to Israel to get lobbying work in the US, Turkey can also lobby within Nato but it probably wont be as effective.
AZ wont be able to join NATO for obvious reason but it could become a strategic partner like Japan, SK and Israel which would provide protection from Russians.
I think US wouldnt say no to a base on Caspian sea either, im actually surprised that this didnt happen earlier...

You are overestimating Russia's economic might. As they say, "Russia is a geostrategic giant but an economic dwarf".

From the 90's PM Mesut Yılmaz era we had an extremely disadvantageous for us gas deal with Russia. Since then Russia was the top gas exporter due to " take or pay "condition of the agreement. Within the time, Turkey diversified the import options so Russia is not a top dog anymore.

Another issue that Russia is an importer country if we exclude military/weapon hardare and natural resources. He can not just impose sanction because these two industry keeping them on their feet. Specially natural resources.

What Russia can do is the best to stop buying agricultural goods and stop sending Russian tourists. We can find another market for tomato but replacing Russian tourists seems difficult since they make up 7 million of 51 annual tourists number. It's a quiet big number.

But it has a vice-versa effect. Russian domestic tourism agents network and Turkish tourism is like one entity. Shortly millions of people will be effected from both side.

Other sanction, export/import issues can be solved for both countries by finding another markets.
