Azerbaijan Defence Programs & Military Development

14.5 and above is considered anti-material, Azerbaijani snipers mostly rely on such high calibers to take out snipers and soldiers hiding behind fortified positions.
for anti-material, we have adopted different way:
combo of portable ATGMs (Metis-M1 and Kornet-EM),Heavy Machine Gun (M2HB) and RPG-29

.
2S31 Vena - Azerbaijan reportedly ordered 18 of these systems but there are around 18 systems in this single photo alone, wouldn't be surprised if more than 40 systems were ordered, as they have been spotted in Nakhchivan and at least 12 other systems were shown when a new base was opened.

According to the President, Azerbaijan is negotiating over new major arms deals with Russia, current sum of all contracts signed stand at 5 billion, making Russia the largest supplier of Azerbaijan with Israel coming second at 4.85 billion. Over last couple years Azerbaijan has expressed interest in T-90MS, BMPT-2 Terminator, Ka-52, Su-30SM and etc.

I don’t understand. The one who support your enemy as a guarantee power is your largest supplier.

. . . .
Which tank, chopper or uav can we really offer them without any issues?

Issues can easily be rectified as they appear. Azerbaijan, isn't buying weapons from Russia and Israel for the sake of no issues occuring. In a war with Armenia, Azerbaijan would be cutoff from any Russian and Israeli supplies. Azerbaijan being a small state, their purchases are purely buying political leverage...

We couldn't export T-155 to Azerbaijan as you recall.

As far as i know except Russia and Israel (maybe China too i dunno) nobody is willing to sell arms to Azerbaijan.

.
From whom do you suggest that they should be buying weapons ?

USA, they would love to sell weapons to Azerbaijan and in the same time replace the Russians. The only issue would be Armenia diaspora. Some European countries, South Africa, China, Brazil and of course Turkey.

Forget US. http://asbarez.com/124009/senior-u-...es-to-azerbaijan-not-for-use-against-armenia/

I don't know which European countries are willing to sell to Azerbaijan.

South Africa or Brazil not producing the platforms Azerbaijan needs, like fighter Jets, Air defense missiles, etc....

Turkey has failed to deliver 36 T-155 Firtinas to Azerbaijan, first 250 units of Altay will use MTU engine aka no sale to Azerbaijan again, and by the time Tumosan integrates 1500hp engine on Altay more than half a decade will pass.
Ka-52 is on the level of Apache, and additionally T-129 uses American engines, if Azerbaijan goes to war, Russia might block sales to Azerbaijan but there is no doubt US will definitely block even sale of parts to Azerbaijan thus we will have T-129 sitting in the airfields collecting dust during the important times.

why does Turkey buy weapons and engines from countries such as US and Germany which actively supply and even fight along on the ground with Turkish enemies? hint - there is no one else.

.
Turkey should definitely do something about the engines for T-129, they should either start an indigenous program or buy engines from some other european country. i think its creating problems even for Pakistan to go for it.

It is a complicated issue and purely politic related with politicians. Turkish officials are very eager to do military related business with brother Azerbaijan and continuously arranging meetings to do something important which suits the nature of brotherhood between two states. From PM to industry officials, they all say same things “It is a shame that Our cooperation with Azerbaijan (~50-80million $) is not the level we desired”. It is the reason Undersecretariat of Turkish defence industry met with Azerbaijani counterparts in past with offering establishment of JV. institutes like We do in around ten different countries and riskshare partnership on project level for almost all Turkish projects including Naval assets like we do in Turkmenstan, Pakistan, Malaysia; Land vehicles like we do with Indonesia, Saudia Arabia, Qatar, UAE; Electro-optic, Stabilized gun, FCS, EW, Radar technologies like we do in Kazakshtan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia; but Azerbaijan selected mostly Israeli and Russian products/institutes to do JV and technology transfer. It is no need to introduce Turkey as incapable state not able to do such tech transfer/big trade bussiness with pointing out MTU blockage for Firtina as if Israel can produce own subsystems on exported products or Russia exports the tools without any terms. Two state made some good direct purchase deals in past on artillery rockets and Cobra APC’s but When It comes to long term cooperation deals with ToT and JV, Israel is their favourite one so While Aselsan and Roketsan like institutes establish new technology institutes on Central Asia and Middile East states with transfering sensitive technologies to them, Azerbaijan becomes the main playground of Israel, not Turkey. You can’t tell that interesting situation with origin of engines. It is about intention of the states to do business. Our intention and good willings to do bussiness is just on our speeches. Reality is what is written above so You can’t see much text, nor defence related statements of Turkish officials about Azerbaijan.
