Featured Azerbaijan Armenian War

Bro , we understand your concerns . we all do . But , please .... You are talking about an ideal outcome without considering the reality on the ground . Everybody knows sooner or later that Ivan would come to medling in . He has to protect his interest after all . Wether he liked or not he has to protect the Armenian integrity and reap some benefit while at it . Without a nuclear power wiliing to butt head to head with putin Ivan intention was a done deal before anyone bother to ask a question . Sadly Turkey hasn't reach a nuclear powered status as yet . So despite all of our ( erdogan was included in here !! ) Reluctance and grumbling that was the reality on the ground . Makes no mistakes here ... It's in Russia interest to prolong this conflict so do not bother asking about the final peace solution .
Sooner or later Russia vs Turkey 4.0 were bound to happen all over again . Until that equilibrum were reached we are all simply life on a borrowed time .

Alot of people thinking Russia green-lighted this but it is on the contrary. They didn't want this war to happen at all and felt uneasy from the beginning it was entirely Erdogan and Aliyev operation from the get go no country supported this except Pakistan. They were pushing for this and gave Armenia ultimatum either give up or we will take by force and that is what they did come with force period

hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhah. hahahahahahhahahaha. You are a master at comedy. Russian swill stay for 5 years. hahahahahaha
If we read through the history, the crusaders, the european colonists, and may be even chengish khan was not able to do as much damage to the Muslims collectively, as they rrussians have done.

They were one of the major factors in the decline of the Ottomans, more then half of russia is buit on the skulls of Muslims Emirates, Afghanistan, the Caucasus, and many many more, even Bosnia.

Also the rise of the far right christian extremism is in part or most part fueled by the russians, any western leader that is fueling that fire agressively is in putins camp openly.

i cannot understand why azerbaijan would not got for that last swing to end it?
Because Azerbaijan made the "TURKISH MISTAKE" of shooting that Russian Mi-24 down. That tied Azerbaijan's hands because it gave Russia the excuse to enter the conflict fully, IF IT WANTED TO, and Azerbaijan knows its military is a piece of paper without TUrkish support, and given other factors like geography(Russia is the dominant power in the Caucasus), Azerbaijan didnt want to start fighting Russia, because they would lose all the gains they've made in NK!

unless they got an ultimatum from Russia ?
DUH, and some people on this thread are triggered by that.

Turkey's president on Wednesday announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) setting up a joint Turkish-Russian center to monitor the Karabakh peace deal, which has ended weeks of armed conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

"Turkey will join the peacekeeping forces in the [Karabakh] region to monitor the implementation of the deal with Russia," Recep Tayyip Erdogan told a parliamentary group meeting of his party in the capital Ankara.

The joint center, which will be established on Azerbaijani territories that were liberated from Armenia's occupation, was signed this morning, Erdogan added.

"All measures in preventing violations of the cease-fire in Nagorno-Karabakh will be taken by this center," he explained.

He went on to say that with this deal, 28 years of occupation on Azerbaijani lands and Karabakh officially comes to an end.

"As Turkey and the Turkish nation, every day for 28 years we felt the pain of the occupation in our hearts, together with our Azerbaijani brothers."

The Turkish leader stressed that with the agreement reached, the areas in Azerbaijan that have yet to be liberated, including the remaining parts of Karabakh, will be left to Azerbaijan.

"Turkey is ready to do whatever is needed for region's peace, security and confidence," Erdogan said.

Referring to an article of Tuesday's Russia-brokered peace deal, he said: "A road will be constructed to connect Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan Autonomous Region."

He said that likewise, a transport corridor would also be opened between Armenia and Khankendi.

Erdogan underlined that Azerbaijanis displaced with the Armenian occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh, also known as Upper Karabakh, will return to their homes under the supervision of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

"In the conflict that started again with Armenia's attack on Azerbaijani lands, we stood by our Azerbaijani brothers with all our heart and resources, and contributed to the process to end this occupation," he said.

The Turkish president also congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people over the liberation of territories under Armenia's occupation.

"The joy and pride of our Azerbaijani brothers is our pride," Erdogan said, adding that Turkey would continue to be in closer and stronger cooperation with Azerbaijan and that both states would build a "common future" together.

Following the meeting, Erdogan underlined that the Turkish observation and inspection staff stationed at the joint center in Nagorno-Karabakh would act in the same capacities as the Russians.

"Right now, Russia started to settle in some points. The talks will be held between the foreign ministers [of Russia and Turkey]. A crew from Russia will come here, talks [on Karabakh] will be held here."

Conflict, peace deal

Relations between the ex-Soviet republics have been tense since 1991, when the Armenian military occupied Nagorno-Karabakh, a territory recognized as part of Azerbaijan, and seven adjacent regions.

Fresh clashes erupted on Sept. 27, and the Armenian army continued its attacks on civilians and Azerbaijani forces, even violating humanitarian cease-fire agreements, for 44 days.

At the frontline, Baku liberated several cities and nearly 300 of its settlements and villages from Armenian occupation during this time.

On Nov. 10, Baku and Yerevan signed a Russia-brokered agreement to end fighting, and work towards a comprehensive solution.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev hailed the agreement as a victory for his country and a defeat for Armenia, saying Baku's military success enabled it to gain an upper hand to end the three-decade occupation of its territory.

The Turkish leadership also welcomed the truce, describing it as a "great victory" for Azerbaijan.

On the other hand, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he had signed an "unspeakably painful" deal that allowed Azerbaijan to claim control over the regions it took back in the fighting.

I sense some sour grapes. This deal happened because Armenian military saw reason and pushed for it after the disaster in Susha.
I think you meant to say:
Most Azeri weapons systems are not Turkish. Azeri military has trained and been advised by others as well.

This is actully what the Armenia leader Pashin even said himself that they accepted their defeat after Susha and made concession.

One thing to note is that the Azeris offered Pashin similar deal before engaging militarily which was give us the districts surrounding NK plus two other regions where they keep 1-2 regions in return but he denied which cause them to lose territories inside NK

There is no doubt that if armenians failed to solve this issue on table, they would find themselves at war after 5 or 10 years.
Biggest benefit the Azerbaijan would get through this victory is that Armenia is no more invincible and now Armenia would always feel insecure.
The psychological effect of 90s war and 4 day war in 2016 has been reversed. Azerbaijan would be next time even more powerful.

big mistake to allow Russian troops into NK. ARM will continue fighting russians will block azeiri advance

Exactly, AZ traded being occupied by ARM soldiers which they can shoot at. To Russian occupiers which they can never shoot at. Better to give NK to ARM than have Russians in AZ. This sets the stage for AZ being annexed by Russia. Chechens did not do the Moscow Apartment Bombing. Those were staged by the FSB.

Chechens were free until the false flag terror attack.

Russia simply needs to have an AZ false flag in the next 100 years and have the Russian tanks roll in. Russia is already occupying part of AZ. This is as stupid as Palestinian Arabs trading being occupied by the Turks, to siding with GB in WWI with Lawrence of Arabia whose empire sent in zionists to occupy Palestine. Zionists want Palestine. Turks were better opponents for Arabs. zionists and russians have no love or respect for Caucasians (Palestinians and Azeris). Russia wants AZ.

Russia's plan is to annex AZ, why else would a Russian helicopter be there on the border when they claimed they were not to get involved.

The whole war was stupid. This ending is disastrous.

What the heck was a Russian helicopter doing in on the front line of a warzone between AZ and ARM. That reveals the intentions of Russia against AZ.

This is nonsensical Azerbaijan has defense treaty with Turkey it is like saying Russia is gonna occupy Istanbul it doesn't make any logical sense. Whatever Azerbaijan has been given comes under Azerbaijani territory period. Btw Azerbaijan is not in conflict with Russia it just secured vast of lands from Artsakh.

Ilham Aliyev knew what he was doing from the get go and that every deal signed would not give him unfavorable terms.

Azerbaijan sovereignty is linked to Turkey and is as crucial as Turkey's own sovereignty.

The Azeris sovereignity is irrevocable by all means necessary

Wether Russia gren lighted it or not is irrelevant by now . But the reality on the ground is Russia dictated the term for everybody be it Armenian or Azeris . While putin do borrowed Aliyev's to smack some sense in pashinyan head at the end of the day it was the russian also who preserve what was left of Armenians be it dignity or militarily and nothing could stop him !!! Do you think Turkey will be eager butting head with Putin by this point ?? While some shady agreement do been cooked up in somewhere all but was within Ivan's red line ...
You might believe otherwise but even with NATO behind Turkey ( that's too in question !! ) nobody , even Erdogen was eager to butting head with the mad Ivan !! Crimea , Georgia and Armenia was their satelite fences . And nobody was get away scoot free from touching those . Even if the mad dog has one feet within the grave ....

Well its true that is saves human lives. Even more human lives would be saved if there was not war in the first place. So if thats the measure of success, this has been a failure.

Azerbaijan does not get 85-90% of the territories it has fought for, it gets 65% of the territories it has fought for because Aliyev said many many times, we want Armenian soldiers out of all the Azeri lands, according to security council resolutions. So thats Azerbaijan fighting for 11,000 sq km of land. and it gets to keep about 65% of those lands.

This is obviously taboo in Azeriri society. So there are no maps and no-one dare talk about this.

But these people have children and I'm sure they dont want their children dying in 20 years time over this plot of land. But thats exactly what will happen because of this agreement.

Now there is no need to die, they can just give 90% NK to Armenia (the part that armenia still holds and controls). So this is the choice that they will have to face sooner or later.
Has anyone clarified if the Armenian part of NK is to be regarded as "Azerbaijan territory that is under autonomous control of Armenians" (akin to the serbska republic in Northern Bosnia i believe), or is it actually owned by Yerevan? If ethnic Armenians keep autonomous status in officially recognized Azerbaijan territory, then it's a total victory for Baku. Let them have token autonomy, like those Serbs in Bosnia.

If however, it remains Yerevan controlled, then actually I'm confused because it is STILL occupied as per the UN and whole world's definition! This would be a bizarre status quo and almost seems unresolved.
