Featured Azerbaijan and Pakistan JF-17 negotiations

The reason why they are buying Thunder on emergency basis is because of Armenians getting M2K from France.

These will be Block-2 for now from PAF's stock maybe even flown by them and certainly shall be guarded by them as they r in PAF config till they get their own newly build aircraft. Azeris want total of thirty six to forty aircrafts. They will be trained too on this fighter so expect a few Jeff ''B'' also stationed there.

And they will pay us in the shape of a decade of cheap oil/gas. Thats how largely Azeris pay for expensive Israeli systems too.

However since they r in PAF config. they must be guarded by any israeli/jewish azeris. The Azerbaijan;s strong strategic relations with Israel are a real real concern here.

Interesting thing i heard that PAC has stopped the production of Block II all together and assembly lines are right now being updated and expanded for Block III production. Now Pakistan shall build thirty Block III per year.

Another interesting fact is that Nigeria has ordered additional Thunders of Seven in total in the shape of Block-III of 35 mil / aircraft prize with total coast of 245 mil. That way Block-III has got its first export customer even before it hit production lines. These will be delivered till 2025.

So Azerbaijan will get their fighters after that time that too in the shape of Block-III and will get AFTER the N igerian order is finished

. And that further increases the concerns of Israeli access to them!

So this is where we are right now! If PAF does give this emergency procurement to Azerbaijan then PA/PAF personnel must be deploy that those airbases and no Israeli/jew azeri should be allowed near that air field.

If Armenians do actually get any Mirage 2000s, and that is a big if, the French will be milking them for decades to come all the way to the bank for spares and support. Might workout in Azeri favor actually in the long run.

Great! Proud to have worked on this bird :pakistan:
What did you do?
No, musharraf's treachery happened to him. You know kargil and then coup and the horrible treatment afterwards and then exile and the accompanying tortures musharraf subjected the family to. That's what happened.

Not that that's any excuse at all for what he did after his return. Man of his stature -3 times prime minister, 2 times chief minister- should have thought of country first, second and also last! Should have gotten over self. Sadly he didn't. Unfortunately he surrounded himself with wrong kind of advisers and as a result his 3rd term was the worst one of all 3.

On the topic itself, one can never be too careful when it comes to israeli involvement. But perhaps, given our close relations with azerbaijan, we can maybe keep a decent representation there to keep an eye on things?
And when NS refused to allow a serving chief of staffs aircraft to land and instead go to India that was patriotism. When will you people stop the tamasha and use your own brain. Its yours use it

Its not a theory but actually correct as most or all communist aircraft get similar designations. Fighters had a name starting with F, helicopters with H (Hip, Hokum, Havoc, Helix, Hind...etc), B for bombers (Backfire, Bear, Badger etc), C for cargo/transport (Cub, Colt, Coke, Candid, etc) and finally M for trainers and misc aircraft (Magnet, Midget, Mare etc).

For fighters;
J-5 - Fresco
Q-5 - Fantan
J-6 - Farmer
J-7 - Fishcan
JH-7 - Flounder
J-8 - Finback
J-10 - Firebird
J-11/15 - Flanker L/X2
J/F-17 (no F designation as its a Pakistani fighter as well which is not a NATO adversary and goes by Thunder, what Pakistan named it).

The Mighty Dragon for J-20 is not a NATO designation but what the Chinese call it. Its NATO designation might be Firefang.

Since most of the older transports were of Russian origin, they retained their Russian NATO designations too.

Its possible the naming has now stopped or perhaps just not public knowledge for the latest Chinese transports and helicopters
the Soviet bombers were designated as Badger and bear etc. the gaming community on DCS is calling JF-17 as Jeffs and it might get picked up by NATO.
we should introduce ban on export of Block III

Azerbaijan is too close to Israel and India is close to Israel

we could end up back firing here

max. should be Block II
NO sir,
there is nothing ground breaking technology in Block 3 which is not known to the world. some components can vary for sure if we are so keen to hide say our own EW suit.

Nothing prevented F-16 sales to the world despite the threat of secrecy leakage.

We dont know that for sure. I have not seen any news of it. Its also possible that Azerbaijani may opt for a non chinese AESA radar. In any case, it will help PAF too.
Not possble and it will not help PAF. Please dont hold onto any fantasy, it will equipped non Chinese AESA. The Griffon one offered even has inferior spec comare to KJL-7A AESA. Why would u want PAF to equipped with inferior products? Plus Chinese will never approve and refuse any source code released.

I am not talking about PAF, i am talking about JF17 block 2 for Azerbaijan, with AESA. PAF have already selected the chinese AESA for block 3. Its also possible china may not want to export the radar and thus provide option for others.

which version will be exported, block 2 or 3? Also if block 3, i would like to know more about the bvr. I know airforces dont like to talk about bvr capabilities, so if any offence admin delete this post

NATO codes for fighters start with an F.

Such as "Felon" for SU-57 or "Fulcrum" for Mig-29.

Or "Firebird" for J-10.

Also, would love for Azerbaijan to get some JF-17 soon.

Then in that case the JF-17 should called the “Fizaya”. It will be great international advertising for our Air Force and the homegrown product that the Air Force made in conjunction with the CAC.

Hi,

Why wait till the armenians decide to go high end russian---. Why not take the bull by the horns---.

If we give them our best now---they will train on it---the armenians will get their aircraft---and then we will be able to sell or upgrade their aircraft to the next level up---.

In the weapons wars---you should not be caught chasing the enemy's procurements.

Mr. Baloch---many have underestimated the prowess of the JF17's.

My answer was to our esteemed friend from turkey.

The Armenians recently completed (Feb. ‘19) an acquisition of 4 Su-30SM. This opens up the possibility for another go around between the JF-17 and the Su-30. Another flanker taken down by the JF-17 especially by a third party Air Force would do wonders for sales and should be more than enough to pay for upgrades to our planes, when not if any equipment is lost or compromised in a crash or theft by adversary spies. Protecting Source codes and supplying maintenance advisors for the first 10 years should be enough time to keep our technology safe as much as can be done.

We ought to sell the best the customer is willing to spend on, in the hopes their operations reflect on the capabilities of the aircraft. The 1981 Osirak attack probably played some part in many NATO air forces choosing the F-16 over the Mirage 2000.

Low oil price hurt Azeri economy bad. Unlike Russia which has a much more diverse economy, Azeri don't have that luxury. Azeri don't have money to buy JF-17.

A little off topic, but regional connectivity projects can help Azeris pay for larger defense acquisitions, especially those that will ultimately not be Russian in origin (if the JF-17 replaces the Russian engine with a Chinese one when the Chinese catch up)

Here is how:

Azerbaijan should work with Pakistan and Turkey to create a Non-Russian and Non-Iranian (mostly land) corridor between Pakistan and Turkey.

Building upon the success of Oil pipelines through Georgia and on to Turkey and then Europe, The Azeris could add their influence to get Turkmenistan and Georgia on board an effort to build a road and rail link between Quetta, Pakistan and Istanbul.

It would also bring steady income to Afghanistan and Turkmenistan that is not dependent on oil and gas prices, and the appeal would be quicker transit times then shipping while being cheaper then flying goods. A tran-caspian shipping industry would also be built up, and all countries along the route would gain international influence; gaining some freedom from the influence of Russia and Iran.

The transit trade would get supercharged if all these countries could put pressure on India to resolve the Kashmir dispute and use this quicker shipping route to Europe, which would not be subject to US sanctions (due to it being Non-Iranian and Non-Russian). Not only Indian goods, but all countries shipping clothing to Europe, that can get their product to market faster and keeping up with changes in fashion would benefit. It would put pressure on India from countries all around her and her own people to solve the dispute, so that all can benefit economically.
