The only thing they have in common with Kashmiris is they were under dogra occupation.
Dogra occupation came to them in 1846 because of first anglo Sikh war and treaties of Amritsar and Lahore. That’s why these pahari and pothwari and other areas were all under dogra occupation. Other then that they have no common history with Kashmiris either.
Paharis and pothwaris are also found in Pothohar plateau in Pakistans Punjab.
A lot of AJK people like to call them selfs Kashmiris and separate them self from Pakistan but most of AJK is culturally and ethnically more closer to Punjabi’s and Pakistanis then they are to Kashmiris.
This is also one reason why JKLF dream of independent J&K state will stay a dream only because the region is way to diverse ethnically and religiously it’d be a civil war if they ever get independence cuz there’s a big amount of many different ethnicities and ethnicities in the North of j&k state in Ladakh in kargil in gilgit they don’t see them self as Kashmiris and hate being grouped with them. Also real Kashmiris hate when Paharis pothwaris claim Kashmiris. And they have no common language if they ever become independent it’ll be a nightmare for them because they have no common language no common religion nothing in common too diverse. Pakistan a multi ethnic country at least has islam to unite us but j&k state doesn’t have that either because it has Hindus bhuddist muslims and other smaller religions.

Mirpur is part of Azad Jammu in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Mirpur under dogra occupation was part of Jammu province while Muzaffarabad was part of Kashmir province. So even if you ignore ethnicity and go by statehood your still not Kashmiri rather a Jammuite.

Also I’m not talking about UK and could care less about UK. Whatever happens in UK it still doesn’t change that fact that mirpuris and AJK in general isn’t Kashmiris and it’s not just language difference it’s huge culturally difference too look at ethnic Kashmiris culture, food, language, history and, genes and compare them to paharis and pothwrais. You’ll see there’s a huge difference so it’s not just language difference everything is different.
Paharis calming to be Kashmiris is insulting ethnic Kashmiris and their culture because I’ve seen many paharis say Paharis culture is Kashmiri culture which is wrong.
Paharis and pothwaris have their own rich culture and history please stick to that and stop stealing Kashmiris culture and claiming Kashmiri it’s honestly offensive to ethnic Kashmiris.

First of didn't mean to disappoint you, no offense to anyone especially you as you are one my favorite person on PDF, but its still very upsetting as they start asking for autonomy for a Political cause which is shame, even if Pakistan and India did give them the region itself is volatile and Indians will invade it, AJK locals can be tough but no tough enough to take on entire IA , whether you or any Kashmiri likes it or not they need Pakistan or Else their fate will be as same as their brothers in J&K.

You know what these modern JKLF guys are nobodies, how many elections have they won? What have they managed to do all these years? They still live off the backs of the likes of our shaheed, including one in my family. They weren't even around during the war of liberation!
I'll give you their importance in a nutshell, I can could bring a small monkey in the middle of anywhere in AJK, get it to do tricks and draw a crowd bigger than they did.
Of course we can't fight India ourselves, it's not 1947, and India is a strong power. But that's not what our people or our forefathers wanted, we are the K in Pakistan. You have to remember the two regions whose men took up arms for freedom, and to merge with the fatherland were AJK and of course Gilgit and Balistan. No one can ever question their loyalty. Till this day we make up 12% of the forces and our populations are tiny compared to the might of Punjab, Pakhtunkhwa etc.
I take it you have seen Gladiator? Do you remember what Russel Crowe says before they charge at the german tribes?

Our men fought and now our people are free. The valley's elders didn't and now their generations suffer bondage, Allah deliver them.
