286 soldiers including 60 civilians alongwith dozers and JCB (used for digging) are employed at the incident site for rescue operation. Effort is further being beefed up. They have so far cleared one platform measuring a 40 feet length, 30 feet wide and 10 feet deep. 5 helicopters are taking part in the operation while heavy machinery, additional manpower including technical experts from National Disaster Management Authority and Strategic Planning Division have been moved from Islamabad via C 130.
An expert team comprising 3 individuals from Switzerland is arriving tonight to assist in rescue operations.
Another disaster management team comprising 6 individuals alongwith necessary equipment from Germany will also arrive Islamabad tonight.

450 men, digging manually as best as they can at 13,000 feet, aided by "2 Dozers, 2 JCB (Earth Mover), 3 Excavator and 2 dumpers", are nowhere near enough the resources needed to accelerate the process of recovery.
I hope additional resources, both manpower and mechanical, are made available as quickly as possible.
a memorial of some sort should be made there not just for these martyrs but for all martyrs of Pakistan in uniform
the efforts should not end until each and every soldier is uncovered and handed over to their families.....and/or by whatever miracle, a survivor is pulled out
no surrender until this is done
i have absolutely no idea; but i would imagine they probably have a few helicopters as well as some heavy machinery needed for digging and moving earth
''high altitude specialists'' from US have arrived yesterday I believe....they probably have infrared sensors that can detect bodily heat; heartbeat sensors (which are new and probably only like prototypes) etc.
the most daunting task will be to ensure that no bodies underneath would be harmed from the heavy equipments....that would be almost like an insult to injury -- even if accidental.
by and large, it's a f*cked up situation but thats what we're having to deal with so gotta just do things as per procedure and without further endangering more lives. More snowfall is being predicted.
And it would have at this moment, unless The Miracle happens.body retains heat as long as the blood is being pumped....of course when that stops, things are bad

Aaj 4 din hogaye Siachen ma baraf ma dabay Pak Army k ~130 Jawano abhi tk sirf 5 Jawano ki dead bodies hi nikal payi hn
i think not just me but even the Army officials are accepting this very bitter pill. Conditions there are so brutal and the extent of this avalanche is so severe.
A Message from a Pakistani to Siachen Soldiers:
"When we were trapped in 2005 You rescued us.
When we drowned in 2010 you held our hand till the end.
We are sorry, Siachen Heroes.
We can only pray for you"

Any formal confirmation of the first 5 bodies found?
the thing is, 'we' civilians dont have guns, these guys have the guns, so its a responsibility with a gun, pakistanis should weep our brave heroes, but we have the right to criticise if their actions some where are not justified, you know what im sayin, so just leave at there and of course prayers for the survival for all these men
no....just based on people i've spoken to who are privy
as it was very early this morning, im unsure as to what the real numbers are but lets wait and see i guess
of course...i wasnt talking about a helping hand. I was talking about gratitude and recognition --more so for those who yap and criticize the military blindly.
