Avalanche traps about 150 Pakistani soldiers

So who else should we blame. Argentina?

The one who started this madness would end this madness.

Do you have any viable proposal ??
or blame India for not putting any proposal, and look towards Argentina , Tim-buck-to or China
Leaders take the lead others follow.
Hence I would like to see a REAL leader at Islamabad, not anybody's puppet.
This leader would help pakistanis the most.

Leader, u r talking like a follower.....
what stops pakistan from ending this madness.
At this time of great loss to PA, you are playing politics and blaming India.

Hope to see a 'real' Leader in pakistan who can take action , not just pose or talk.

Pakistan was not greedy for a useless land india 1st send her troop in this area not Pakistan....

Hope a good secular govt take power in india & understand this

Hmm,The rescue Machinery will be taken from Rawalpindi, almost 450 km away from the site, its horrible,it will take approx 24 hours. Our military is doing business with the said machinery here whereas its needed there.what a self enmity and negligence. The responsible should be punished.

but heavy machinery was air lifted yesterday and it must be on disaster site already.

The initial machinery would have come from Skardu/Gilgit, afterwards, further machinery is coming from Rawalpindi, as all the workshops are located in Rwp.

Any more news now, media is absolutely mum about it, BBC and CNN have given more coverage than these Pakistani channels. Zardari is on a private visit, nothing gonna come out of that, but why the hype?

The only hope is that the buildings might have not collapsed, and everyone was together.

No news uptill now that anybody got out, or any bodies dug out.

Any inside members????

just talked to FCNA gilgit on their number published on ISPR website..

Asked the operator if he heard any news about rescue or recovery..
He says the operation continued round the clock since yesterday..but until now no dead bodies or survivers been found.
They are digging the snow and hope that late this evening they will reach the depth where they expect to find survivors or dead bodies....
but until now nothing found.

So they are close to the bottom now?

And op carried on at night even?

lets hope for some good news.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military hoped for a miracle on Sunday as rescue teams searched for 124 soldiers and 11 civilians buried by a Himalayan avalanche near the Indian border, with no sign of survivors another 24 hours later.
The avalanche engulfed an army headquarters near a glacier early on Saturday, leaving snow up to 80 feet (25 metres) deep over an area a kilometre wide.
The victims are trapped in one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth, at an altitude of 15,000 feet (4,500 metres) near the Siachen Glacier in the Karakoram mountain range.
“Let’s hope for a miracle,” a military official, who asked to remain anonymous, told Reuters.
Helicopter rescue teams and troops on the ground with sniffer dogs were racing against time.
“On Wednesday and Thursday we expect cloudy conditions and some snow fall as well which will make it difficult for any rescue operations to continue,” said meteorologist Mohammed Hanif.
Eleven civilian employees of the military were buried under the snow along with the soldiers of the 6 Northern Light Infantry Battalion, the military said in a statement.
The army listed the names of the missing on its public relations website, from officers to waiters to barbers.

that is horrifying.......

At the moment, 180 armymen, and 60 civilians are involved in the op.

Good decision to involve the civilians, need all the help and manpower we can get.

Army have more than enough personnel to spare for this rescue operation if needed, I don't think civilians will be helpful at there unless they are natives of this kind of areas

They are civilians of the area, there is a village nearby..

Army personnel have still not got close to the bottom, just shows how tough it is to dig the snow, work also continued at night I believe, and still nothing.
