Automakers starting to replace center rearview mirrors with widescreen video displays

.
I never felt the use of center rearview mirror...

That's becasue you drive in India where driving standards are really poor, same story in Pakistan I guess.
In Karachi, yes, people drive like maniacs, so don't bother looking in the mirrors (all three of 'em).
In more developed cities like Islamabad, you have to abide by the rules, unless you want a ticket. Wearing seat-belt is also needed on the highway and many parts of the city.

At-topic.
I doubt the reliability of these cameras. Companies have to be careful when doing something like this, one mishap and you have a million dollar lawsuit.

.
It depends when sensible people drive they look in both rear and side mirrors while driving, turning and switching lanes. Not all drivers in Pakistan are like you, so please don't criticize. Also can give countless accounts on which Developed countries drivers don't look and just drive and had accidents.

. .
Don't you ever look back when reversing?
Dude you are supposed to turn your head back while reversing. Don't look at the center rear view mirror when you do that.
Use all your mirrors to have reasonable understanding of what vehicles are behind you. That awareness makes the road safer for you and everyone else using the road.

I remember almost a decade back if you ask someone to go wrong side of the road the person may look at you like you have asked him to kill some buddy but later their is a culture in our rural areas and from Lahore I.e usually called zinda-dili is some what like if you are on a vehicle all you need is a road to drive or ride where directions are secondary issue and another wonder which is one wheeling which seldom exists in Karachi comes from bara bhai province and prevailed here so as in police we see their is seldom locals inducted and mostly been taken from brotherly provinces which seems more towards accumulating resources rather administering the system same goes to rural local induction. Now people are driving like maniacs but if they saw Rangers ahead they become sane human :D.

Now I would say the city which is generating the most revenue is least developed, just a cow to milk and nothing.

The thing with Karachi is that it's bad throughout.
You'd expect people in Defence or Clifton to drive sanely, as the places hold the more educated class of the population, but noooooo, they drive like utter maniacs, hence there are no "role models" for the general population to look to.

Strange

Which city do you live in.

In NCR unless you want your car to be kissed all over keeping an eye on all 3 mirrors is essential.
