Mainly Buffalo's.. Then goat, chicken etc.. Cow & calf exports banned..
Fish is the healthiest I think....
I can find tens of different fish in the market here.....
I mean lake/river fish. We don't have too much sea fish, 1000km from the sea.
But we have several thousand lakes in the province.

American beef has Ractopamine.

Beef from USA is poisoned. From livescience website:
Because of safety concerns, about 160 nations ban or restrict the use of this drug during pig production, including all countries in the European Union, Russia and China. But that hasn't stopped the U.S. pork industry from feeding it to an estimated 60 percent to 80 percent of American pigs to rapidly boost growth rates.

You should be extremely vigilant. England and USA have long history of using biological weapons. From endgenocide website:
Sir Jeffrey Amherst, commander-in-chief of British forces in North America, wrote to Colonel Henry Bouquet at Fort Pitt:

“You will do well to try to inoculate the Indians [with smallpox] by means of blankets, as well as to try every other method, that can serve to extirpate this execrable race.”

Consequently, settlers spread smallpox to the Native Americans by distributing blankets previously owned by contagious patients.

In China Beef Trade, U.S. Gain May Mean Australia Pain
U.S. return to market spells trouble for Australia, already overtaken by Brazil as China’s No. 1 beef supplier

Hopefully won't be the case for Mainland China. I advise you to be wary of US beef. They are heavily state-subsidized and protected.

US beef is famous here in TW for being contaminated (rectopamine, as Andrew said above) and banned (and then the ban is lifted not because the US raised the standards, but Taiwan authorities reduced them).

People I know go to NZ or Australian beef. For the rest, buying from the markets, rather than the department store, is a better option. I trust more to local producers than industrialized production.

In Dongchang traditional market in Pudong, Shanghai, Australia's Consul in Shanghai Brent Moore was introducing the Greatness of Aussie beef. It is a new trend in China that ambassadors from different countries try their best to promote their agricultural products to 1.3 billion consumers.

China has just lifted a decade of ban on beef from US. It will be a critical time for Aussie beef. Brazilian beef has already posed serious threat to Aussie beef!

Cows needed to produce milk
you don't need to milk. You should not drink milk.

  1. In observational studies both across countries and within single populations, higher dairy intake has been linked to increased risk of prostate cancer (cited in [2]).
  2. Observational cohort studies have shown higher dairy intake is linked to higher ovarian cancer risk (cited in [2]).
  3. Cow’s milk protein may play a role in triggering type 1 diabetes through a process called molecular mimicry[3].
  4. Across countries, populations that consume more dairy have higher rates of multiple sclerosis[4].
  5. In interventional animal experiments and human studies, dairy protein has been shown to increase IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor-1) levels. Increased levels of IGF-1 has now been implicated in several cancers[5].
  6. In interventional animal experiments[6] and human experiments[7], dairy protein has been shown to promote increased cholesterol levels (in the human studies and animal studies) and atherosclerosis (in the animal studies).
  7. The primary milk protein (casein) promotes cancer initiated by a carcinogen in experimental animal studies[8].
  8. D-galactose has been found to be pro-inflammatory and actually is given to create animal models of aging[1].
  9. Higher milk intake is linked to acne[9].
  10. Milk intake has been implicated in constipation[10] and ear infections (cited in [2]).
  11. Milk is perhaps the most common self-reported food allergen in the world[11].
  12. Much of the world’s population cannot adequately digest milk due to lactose intolerance.

Drink Almond milk. Much better for you!

Consul in Shanghai.
Now he's selling beef also. He is doing double duty. Does he get paid extra for that?

@Jlaw , @+4vsgorillas-Apebane , @Götterdämmerung , I am hearing lots of various opinion on healthy diet. From what I hear about many conventional eating habits (meat, diary products etc. consumption, sugar intake etc.), I understand something is seriously misplaced.

What would be your advice as to a basic healthy diet? How to replace (and what to replace) the basics such as meat, milk, and sugar? Your opinions?

What would be your advice as to a basic healthy diet? How to replace (and what to replace) the basics such as meat, milk, and sugar? Your opinions?

1. eat more veggies (preferably steamed or lightly sauteed)
2. eat more fruits (fruits with less sugar is preferred)., ie. Guava is a good fruit, very cheap in Taiwan
3. meat--more healthier is fish, chicken (anti biotics free), pork and beef are both considered red meat. Red meat bad for liver and prostate
4. also how you cook the food is important also. If you deep fry veggies, forget about it it's bad.
5. For oil in cooking--use oil with less saturated fat and more Monounsaturated fats , which are good fats. ie. Avocado oil, grape seed oil is what i'm currently using.
6. drink mainly water, two teas a day. I avoid coffee as high caffeine in coffee not good for eyes.
7. NO SMOKING
8. drink less alcholol. Avoid hard liquor (whiskey, brandy, etc). Avoid alcohol if possible.
9. I don't use sugar in tea or coffee and don't drink soft drinks. Too much sugar. Use natural sugar if possible, ie high grade honey, Lorhon gor. Avoid all artificial sweetener such as aspartame and coffee creamer as they are cancer causing
10. Don't eat canned food. Inner lining of can is made from cancer causing material. when leak it gets in food.

I also try to eat based on Chinese Traditional medicine way as categorizing the food as hot, cold, wet cold, cooling effect. Eat food that nourishes the liver and cleanse liver and food for healthy kidney. According to TCM, 80% of diseases and sickness derive from a weak or fatty liver.

Don't drink milk, drink almond milk as substitute for milk
