Thank you for asking----current generatiom tyurbo chargers are 3rd or 4th generation----.

As for technology---Honda is a decade ahead of technology from other brands---.

What others gained with turbo charging---honda gained with VTEC engines---. What BMW and audi were getting with turbo chargers---Honda was getting similar or better horsepower with its VTEC naturally aspirated technology---.

The reason you see so many cars being turbo charged---is because of the U S laws about gas consumptions---EPA.

Like the all wheel drive on the current aidi's and bmw's and most other highline cars---in its current form---Honda used it on its Acura line models---and called it SH All wheel drive---which was Super Handling AWD----and they started it in 2006----.

Merces---BMW and Audi came out with similar concept some 7-8 years later---.

ACE body construction----honda gave its design for free to all the world auto manufacturer because it provided with more safety for the passengers--- mercedes---bmw---audi---ford--chev---toyota---chrysler---were amongst the benefactors---.

Which car would you suggest for a Pakistani consumer if he has to choose between Audi A3, Honda Civic turbo, and BMW. The honda is cheapest of them all and as far as I can understand from your convo, its the cheapest to maintain as well.

Audi A3 rear leg space...is cramped.
at 4:15

BMW-3 is in league of 50-60 lac rs (316i). if affordable go for it. Dewan Motors can happily service it for you.

1.5T Civic has a bit of manufacturing issues that Honda Atlas is now solving but the packs a punch with 170 bhp in 30 -35 lac Rs range.

As I have written before---I have had millionaires crying their hearts over 15---20000 dollars engine repair bills on their 7 and 8 series cars---.

That is why 80% sale of new luxury cars in the U S is in the form of lease---and then they become certified used cars with very good warranty..

The best thing to do is use youtube video---type in the year and make model and problem and you have a video sloution.
True same here also. But German cars... friends tred lightly.... you need deep pockets and they can cost the price of the new car over next 2-3 years after warranty.

Just in my home town we have several thousand bmw/audi - more the former - 3 series is built up in Rosslyn and then exported from here. Just visit SA to see the amount of these cars. Probably johannesburg/pretoria has larger bmw/audi than NY - no seriously - but there is zero resale.

I had a german car long ago and it plagued me and i had to take it to a junk yard and hand over the keys - it was a relief. another friend went through same issue with his VW; a third had issues with his audi; fourth did not listen and bought one - my prediction came true and he would not talk to me :( saying i cursed his vehicle; it was not funny - Audi A3 - Exactly 1 month past warranty ...

In Pakistan the government uses automotive sector as a legal extortion on public...it does not understand the importance of having safe modern fuel efficient cars on roads..and the under lying environmental and economic cost junk roaming the street..our fuel import bill is going crazy because the junk roaming the street renders poor fuel efficiency...no wonder anyone with a little mantle of wealth wants to escape Pakistan and go live in Dubai or UK.

die hard toyota loyalist..... been thru 5 corollas... not a single one let me down. on the 6th one :) - we say it is a poor man's mercedes. i love the 6 speed manual especially here on the Nx series highways = 120km +. My 1998 corolla was a very specific south african engine model - before vvti came around - 1.6l but 20valve (not even 16v); that was a power house.

one ran for 14yrs with over 350k+; but then i had 2 newer ones and had to sell it; it is still on the road. another family member' 94 camry - over 500k odometer stopped 9 yrs back; still same engine must be around 900k; it is still around across the border with a priest driving it in lobatse.

by the way, new hiluxes are not as good as older ones with the chassis not being too strong.

Well Pakistanis see it a bit differently. I like the reliability of Toyota cars in general and especially in Pakistan, the maintenance is much cheaper than the competition and one reason is that they have occupied this particular segment for a long time and almost monopolised it and that brings us to its down sides, Toyota has kept the market captive and thus exploited the consumers by charging exorbitant amounts of premiums while giving a lesser quality and feature limited models that are behind the international market by a decade or more. Now a lot of people have exposure to foreign made cars especially Germans, Americans, British, South Korean etc thus they aware of the exploitation by the Japanese auto.
-makers and thus really feel disenchanted...In addition, Toyota cars, may be reliable but are utterly ugly, boring to drive and sickening to sit in once you get used to some German or non-Japanese car. I have been driving Audi Q5 for quite some time and I never had a problem with it and I like its ride though I haven't been doing off roading much but still whenever i turned the wheel to off the road, it performed reasonably good. I never felt the car was struggling with climbs or slipping on the slopes.. or too rough and shaky...in addition, it offers me reasonable economy. so whenever I go to Pakistan I really miss driving it as my relatives and family most own some Japanese car which is boring so much so that I don't like to sit in the driver's seat.

for all those who are happy with German car makers coming to Pakistan and they should be! But be warned the costs of parts and repairs for German vehicle is very high so get ready for high repair costs which is a given with German cars

yes they used to be a bit boring but in fairness, the toyota you get in north america are really boring - interior is poor; here when i compare local made to what US is getting is different. For example, the RSA corolla specifically uses a celica suspension here as the road speeds are much higher on our highways; gearing on the manual transmissions is also very different. Service intervals are 25k apart. Automatics just are not sold - there is no resale value; a prof here from Canada came and bought an automatic; he left after 1 year and car was with my friend for another year before a lady bought it.
Here police use bmws for chase cars on the highways.
Mind you the fuel here is 94 and up; 94 is regular and 97 higher octane - there is no difference in price though. Fuel here is a blend of synthetic - sasol - coal/gas to liquid. If you drive high end performance, this is place to be. I know that they test BMWs and others in western cape.
