Dec 31, 2019 (MLN): The State Bank fo Pakistan(SBP) conducted an auction on Tuesday in which it sold Market Treasury Bills (MTBs) worth Rs.492.02 billion for 3, 6 and 12 months.

Auction target was Rs.400.00 billion against a maturing amount of Rs.345.90 billion.

Cut off yield for 3, 6 and 12 months were 13.4851, 13.2899 and 13.134 percent. The yields for 6 and 12 months remained unchanged while the 3 months cut off came down by less than 1 basis point.

Total amount offered was Rs.880.42 billion out of which the SBP accepted Rs.466.31 billion. The SBP received bids worth Rs.634.98 billion for 3 months, Rs.18.46 billion for 6 months and Rs.226.98 billion for 12 months out of which it accepted Rs.378.76 billion, Rs. 2.63 billion and Rs.84.93 billion respectively.

In addition the SBP picked up Rs.25.7 billion from the non-competitive auction, making the total amount accepted Rs.492.02 billion.

How does foreign buyers earn money on that?

State bank take loan from market to.repay pending matured loan. It will.return it back after its.maturity plus interest
