The wounded troops have been rushed to a nearby hospital.

Allah have mercy, this is sad news may the souls of those 12 men rest in peace. Their honorable sacrifice to the nation should not be forgotten, their valor and courage to fight the enemy in a hostile terrain were the essentials of life are so limited is indeed honorable.

i read this news and i was quite demoralised. but then i thought to myself that if we start feelin lik this then that would mean our soldiers are sacrificin their lives for nothing.
May Allah bless them with the highest rank in paradise. We will inshAllah crush these TTP ppl who are not only bringing a bad name to Pakistan but also to Islam

What only 2 replies?

For everyone else sake I hope they just accidentally missed this thread.

The life of Michael Jackson means more to you then the life of our precious Pakistani Mujahideen Fauj? Michael Jackson dies, all the out pour of sympathy and tears come out why don't I see the same for our soldiers when they die in the mountains and valleys as the cold ground absorbs their blood.

I don't mind people crying for Jackson, but where is the same reaction for our 12 Shaheeds?

Don't condemn me condemn yourselves.

i wish them a very good life after thier heroic , gesture from this world to the gods heavens, where they are going to live forever!WHERE they will get a life , full of comfort, joy & happiness.
but let me, remind the "GHADDARS" , the so called "TALIBANS", that ! they were about to enter, the "HELL" on the plannet called "EARTH" in next 24 hours, from where, they will be deperted shame fully! to the gods "HELL"! where they will live a life full of sufferings, torture & shame FOREVER.:angry::angry::pakistan:

The piece below was published in the News International, please read it critically (you will note the "journalist's" world view), we earlier discussed attitudes with regard to security, as problematic, were we correct?

20 troops die as convoy comes under attack in NWA; 12 militants, two soldiers perish in SWA

PESHAWAR/MIRAMSHAH/WANA: Twenty-two soldiers were killed and thirty-five others injured in two separate attacks by militants in North and South Waziristan agencies on Sunday. Also a same number of militants were killed in the day-long blitz and retaliatory attacks by security forces in the restive region.

20 Pakistan Army soldiers, including a senior officer, were killed and 35 others sustained injuries, several of them seriously, when dozens of militants, affiliated with Taliban commander Hafiz Gul Bahadur, ambushed a military convoy in Madakhel area of North Waziristan Agency on Sunday.

Also, 12 militants and two soldiers were killed in the ongoing offensive in neighbouring South Waziristan Agency.Ahmadullah Ahmadi, a spokesman for the Hafiz Gul Bahadur-led Taliban in North Waziristan claimed responsibility for the attack on the military convoy and warned to continue similar attacks on the security forces in the region till the US drone strikes were not stopped.

Ahmadi phoned The News from Miramshah and claimed 60 soldiers were killed and 15 vehicles were destroyed in the ambush.Pakistan Army spokesman Maj Gen Athar Abbas confirmed the attack and said 12 soldiers were martyred and 10 others seriously injured.

When reached by telephone, Athar Abbas told The News that 10 terrorists were later killed when the Pakistan Army gunship choppers pounded positions of the terrorists where they had ambushed the military convoy.

Official and tribal sources told The News from Miramshah that the military convoy was travelling from Madakhel to Wocha Bibi area near the border with Afghanistan when ambushed by the militants.

The convoy came under attack when it was passing through a narrow road surrounded by mountains.Almost in the same place earlier, militants had ambushed a military convoy and killed 16 soldiers in 2007.

The militants first attacked the military with an improvised explosive device (IED) and then started firing with heavy weapons. They said the militants used heavy weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades, mortar shells and AK-47 assault rifles.

After the attack, the militants reportedly took away weapons and other items from the slain soldiers. The area is away from main Miramshah town and it took some time when senior military officials came to know about the incident.

Almost two hours later, two military helicopters — a gunship and a transport — were sent to the troubled spot.
The chopper shifted 20 bodies of the soldiers and 35 injured to Miramshah. Military officials, who airlifted the injured troops, said a majority of them were in a critical condition.

Some of them were later sent to Bannu and Peshawar in choppers and admitted to military hospitals. Maj Gen Athar Abbas said gunship helicopters later pounded militant positions in the area. It was the second attack on military convoy by the Hafiz Gul Bahadur-led militants in North Waziristan in a week. In an earlier attack near Miramshah, four soldiers were killed and 20 others injured.

Gul Bahadur, who was considered a pro-government Taliban commander after he signed a peace accord with the government on February 17, 2008, has suddenly changed his stance. The tribesmen fear after the attack the government might launch a military operation in North Waziristan
.

Elsewhere in South Waziristan, 12 militants were killed and seven others sustained injuries as jetfighters bombed the suspected hideouts of the Taliban. Also, two soldiers were killed and four injured seriously in different parts of the tribal region.

The tribal sources said the gunship helicopters and jetfighters bombed hideouts of the militants at 10:00 am in Saam, Kacha Lungerkhel, Kuram Garhi, Ladha Serai, Tangi Budenzai, Makeen, Janata, Srarogha, Kotkai, Garhagah and suburbs of Ladha Tehsil, killing 12 militants and injuring seven others.

It was reported that six houses of civilians, including that of Dr Bashar Khan, Malik Saad, Noor Khan, Jalut Khan, Bachi Gul and Sher Dati, were bombed by the jetfighters in Saam area of Ladha Tehsil. A fort-shaped-house of Malik Nasir Khan was also destroyed in Garhagah area.

The sources said four compounds of the militants were also targeted by the gunship helicopters in the mountainous areas of the agency. Security forces used artillery while firing from the hilly area of Naray and hit different areas of the Mahsud tribes, including Badar, Sina Tera and Chalweshti.

Forces and militants also traded heavy gunfire in Sholam, Raghzai and Tanai, due to which two soldiers were killed and four others injured. Meanwhile, people started migration from the area amid shelling by security forces towards Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts.

frist of all, "SHADAT" of these soldiers is a open fact, that PAKARMY is doing its job with truth, dedication & unaccounted act of "BRAVRY", but if some 1, thinks that "shadat" of these "BRAVE" SOLDIERS, will make the, fear GROWN UP ammong the SOLDIERS in PAKARMY, he might be a resident of the "FOOL'S PRADISE".

THIS incident will, fill more fire & fight into, the soldiers who are about to take on "COWARD" enemy, & it will create , thier resolve to eliminate the enemy once & for all!:agree::tup::pakistan:

just wait, you will see , "PAKARMY" janbazs cleaning , the enemy like, that they never were there!
"LONG LIVE PAK ARMY" "LONG LIVE NLI" LONG LIVE PAKISTAN":agree::tup::pakistan:

This is so sad, death of every soldier in this conflict and an innocent civilian. The real sad part is that we ourselves are responsible for this war. Why were these terrorists allowed to be bred and grow strong and multiply right under our nose, why did the govt and secret agencies turn a blind eye to this menace. Now that this snake has become a dragon, we decide to go after them, sacrifising our soldiers and civilians.
This has got to be the worst war we ever fought and Taliban the most dangerous enemy we ever faced. They're embeded in our society, culter and religion. Mass murder of people through sucide bombings across the country by Taliban and they are still able to win sympthies of people. Even now when things seem a little less confusing over recognizeing the enemy there's still talk over making peace occords. Let the murderers, looters, kidnappers walk free, don't bring them to justice, the depth to which this shameless pathetic bunch, blinded by religion (which they don't even practice properly), is unbelievable.

Really sad news. We should be proud of our soldiers and support them till they end the Taliban menace. Lets finish the job once and for all. It seems that it won't only be South Waziristan where the operation will take place. Looks like it will be both North and South Waziristan. Inshallah the brave Pakistani Army will beat the coward Taliban in Waziristan, just like they did in Swat.

Hi,

The news is tragic---but then I read the rest of it and it states that here the millitary was ambushed one time before at a narrow pass---.

I read these tragic stories----but I have never for once read a colonel / brigadier commandant being executed by the firing squad for not doing his job right---for failing to understand the threat level.

Has there been ever a court marshall followed by a firing squad treatment for a commissioned senior millitary officer in the history of pak army.

Why was there no air surveillance before and time of troop movement at the pass---I guess we will never know the answer---an inquiry maybe held against he officer incharge---and then someone at the top will say---" apna baccha hai bhai---challo chorro"---he is our boy let him go.

Young officers and soldiers always pay the price for somebody's incompetence at the top.

Bastard! Why don't he go and attack USA and NATO troops in Afghanistan. They wanna do "Jihad" against west, fine but just get lost from our country.

Where does Islam teaches to kill muslims? Which Quran and Sunna they are following? But Wait......he will not......because he is NOT MUSLIM and an agent of India/Israel/Russia or could be USA.

Exactly my words, I about to write.......For God Sake, same place and we lost 12 brave sons of soil.

For what the heck we are getting more helis from USA? Why tops not secured? Why drone not used for surveilance purposes? Why troops not escorted not given using heli or fighter jet?

Other than our outrage, how does an institution change it's attitude? The answers all have to do with training - it's not that the training is not good, it simply is not good enough.

Should training be sought from the outside? For my money, absolutely not - training by foreigners should ideally signal the end of a military career.

Rewarding poor judgement and a less than serious attitude twoards security continues to produce casaulties for the Fauj.

muse and others I understand your sentiment about the fact that these soldiers died because some ranking officer did not plan the convoy movement properly.

BUT

I do draw a bit of sour taste as it almost smacks of lack of interest and intent by some higher commanders.

If that be the case may your God help your soldiers because someone in the chain of command is not.

May I be wrong.
