You right actually..before 26/11 attacks, many Indians did have a soft corner for Pakistan. Many were even willing to forget about Kargil considering it to be a case of a Military general going rouge.
Pakistan was actively taking part in anti-terror campaigns in Afghanistan and people started to think that Pakistan is changing..
Well 26/11 happened and cleared all those misconceptions. Its a point of no return basically.

In the coming years, India will only become stronger both economically and militarily and we won't have to attack their Karachi harbours again to impose economic blockade. Water flowing to their country can also be used potent deterrent to keep them from having wild ideas.
It's sad that things have come down to this, but what can be done.. Pakistanis have worked very hard to make it that way..

you may be right, but I don't think that is practically possible any more. After every 5-10 years, Pakistan has done something nasty to undermine the trust that was built in that time period. This is a trend since the very beginning. So, that approach of building trust and composite dialogue is not going to work..
