Interesting discussion here and I can find myself mirroring in some of the threads and statements therein. At the onset, being able to question beliefs, practices itself is big space allowed by Hinduism. No compulsion whatsoever to follow a defined format. Calling self a Hindu without believing any of the manifestation of God is clearly possible out here.

As someone said, me too have bowed and prayed in Gurudwara, Dargaah, Church. My family background teaches me tolerance and belief in one and only one supreme power , whatever form it is into. The rampant killing and blowing up self in the name of religion/ God is the craziest thing to happen on this planet.

Finally I strongly believe in "Tatvam Asi" , loosely translated as the divine element residing within me the -Atmaan (soul) is nothing but Him.

Many indians here imply that they are Hindus but at the same time athiests. Its like worhshiping all hindu gods and also claiming that they dont believe in them.

My dear lady (I think you are a lady), under Hinduism there are multiple streams of beliefs. And one of those (infact more than one stream though only one partly survives) is atheism. A Hindu can be an atheist. Is it really that difficult to understand? If you wish, can get into theory to explain it?

Hinduism is more than just a religion, its the soul of ancient India. Hinduism also has a lot of cultural aspects of ancient India.

basically the reason you dont understand is that hindus allow anyone to call themselves as hindus. unlike in your community a sunni is a sunni and a ahamdi is an ahmadi altho both are muslims. that differentialtion is not there in hinduism and can confuse people. if you look at the indivudual level, eg i call myself hindu but can be atheist who just likes the questioning aspect of hindu thrology. someoneelse may be worshipping (bhakti form) someoneelse maybe and arya samajhi. probably thats why its difficult for anyone to understand.

islam is also fake. you believe one guy who went to the mountain and said that god spoke to him and that he wil be prophet and the last one at that.. and you guys believe him?

Some people use faith to bring peace and happiness in other people's life, some use it to bring death, hatred,sorrow and fear.

Then there are people with strong will who understand that even without religion a person can live happy and moral life and be kind and compassionate to fellow human beings. They are the atheists who believe in humanity and honestly humanity is far above every religion.

Remember, Religion is the crutch for weak people.

To the Indians on this thread. Request all of you to stop pointing out the positives and negatives of Islam. This thread is not for that. Also, there are 18% of us who still are Indians, who believe in the Prophet Mohammad and are doing a lot of great service to our country. So out of respect for them, if nothing else, please stop.

Do you think those Pakistanis stop to think weather Indians have Imaan when they come here to get surgeries in Indian hospitals. Do you think the doctor's Iman is less than you saved the lives of those people regardless of their nationality faith etc.

I have read couple of your posts on acient Indian history and it was good. In case youo dont know all the saints from the begining and the last one Swami Vivekananda had worshiped only knowledge. Whatever they told us is a result of their quest of "knowledge". In fact Lord Buddha did his tapasya for teh same thing, knowledge.

I am not here to create a new religion but if I follow one thing I follow knowledge.

Bangalore metro will soon be completing its second phase. They have started the survey of third phase which runs through my house on Bannerghatta road.

thats the problem, karma is not a concept for every hindu.
so likewise, i have no problem if you call hindu religion a fake. all religons are manmade and have holes in it. Glad you agre on that.
