I remembered the movie "Oh My God!!"...

81 % say they are religious which means they are either majority followers of Hindu gods and among them meager number of those who follow their faith's gods.

only 6% more this year say they are ethiests. now its funny many Hindus here claim they ehthiests and at the same time also worship hindu gods. now if its new breed of ethiests then well oh we are also ethiests :P

One doesn't need to worship any Hindu god to be a Hindu..that's exactly what most people don't understand.

There many schools of Hinduism that believe in no god..many which even vehemently deny the existence of any god. One example would be the MImamsa school. SO yes an atheist can be a Hindu. The real litmus test of a Hindu is Dharma, Karma and Kal. That's all that is required, no submission or surrender..no faith as such.

Awsome.. Good to see my community is on the rise. I am a born Sikh but practicing Atheism. I believe every human is equal. I dont see any black, Dalit, Hindu, christian, Muslim etc. We are all Indians. Atheism FTW

So what Sikh rules you are breaking? if you can tell us or how you are practicing atheism?

Also note that there is a reduction in number of people believing in organized religion not in believers in God. It's a good development, we must welcome it.

I've mentioned earlier that there is equal place for believer and non believers in Hinduism. But won't blame you cause it's too difficult to explain to people taught believe that there is only ONE way to reach god.

Don't know the numbers yaara. No specifics are available as such. That would be like asking how many people born into Muslim families drink and consume pork, people don't conduct surveys on such topics. So no exact numerical data is available.

I am a Hindu by birth and I proudly attend all Hindu/Muslim/Buddhist/Christian events but I am also a follower of the scientific process and the process of deduction and reasoning and therefore as any logical individual must be, I am also proudly agnostic, almost atheist.

The more that India and Indians choose this way of life, being proud of their heritage but also looking to the future, the further India will be able to progress.

Viva la Science

I don't know whether I am an atheist or not but I personally don't like the rituals specially the sacrifices we make during pujas. But I certainly love to celebrate holi, dewali etc which are more of a cultural practice than a religious one.

By being an athiest I am only breaking one rule of Sikhism i.e. not following one divine being or GOD. Apart from that Sikhism calls for equality, sharing, no discrimination, justice and love for everyone. I don't say I am perfect but I try to be as good of a person I can. That's all.

Anybody here from the religion called "knowledge"?:coffee:

"Knowledge" ain't no religion.

Don't bastardize one of the few good things we humans have compiled over the ages. :pissed:

Oye waise Bangalore Metro ka status kya hai abhi?

Indians are kaafirs. What's the big surprise here?

What is an organised? there are only Abrahamic religion which is organised and every branch of it is produly carrying it forward one or the other.

81 % Hindus are strictly believers of their gods and faith. You cant just claim to be a hindu and ethiest at the same time but yes for cosmatic face saving you can be. thats simple.

its like if i say oh i dont follow the god but i believe in some supreme divine power.

Indians are kaafirs. What's the big surprise here?

:D the surprise is that they worship shiva and at the same time they say we dont believe in him.
