Atheism: Next threat to humanity

. .
They just dont want to hear it. If you ask an atheist why he doesnt believe in God, his/her answer will be unique. They recognise pain to be unexplained yet existant, but they want to experience God same as video game. Really it is getting out of hands now.

My friend when they give you a unique answer for their reason then search for a reply to that if you don't know the answer already find one this is the way you should move forward. If they do answer you means they are willing for a debate and you should provide them reason and eliminate their doubts. Every human has a brain and at some point they will find the satisfactory knowledge they seek to believe you. Never give up but do your duty. Explaining the reality is your job. If you your self lack knowledge then seek knowledge on matters and return to explain them because we all are not experts but at some point we all need answers so learning till grave is your duty.

First rule of argument is to be polite because if you are rude you will lose chance of educating another person.

If they put up a question you your self don't know answer to then ask for time and research and come back with an answer.

There was no Christian country during WWI and II, and there is no Christian country today. Is there any country that considers Christianity to be official religion?
Official religion of Italy was Roman Catholicism before 1947.

More like the future of humanity. And i don't think thats necessarily a good thing. What i don't like is organized religion.Religion itself can be a type of moral philosophy and help many.
Once man learns to use technology to stop aging and eliminate diseases,or to map his brain and transfer his consciousness into an indestructible body/machine he will lose the need for god , there will no longer be any 'judgement day'/heaven-hell for him. This will happen within the next few hundred years the speed with which technology is advancing.Robots won't replace us,we will merge.Humans will employ technology to become android like creatures devoid of weaknesses that the natural physical body otherwise would have and leapfrog evolution.Once they recah that point ,where they conquer death it will be very difficult for religion to sustain itself.
So the universe is eternal. And you think consciousness is like software or computer data. In this universe of entropy there are uncountable Ways of death a destruction and even if just for sake of argument we are able to transfer our experiences and consciousness to say an android will that android be indestructible. We should think before we make such remarks

I don't see atheist blowing up a church but I can see religious people blowing up a stadium like what ISIS do in Iraq and Syria. Not believing in religion is an insult to religious people. They say killing people is justified by their god(s).

Well what about Joseph Stalin who blew up churches in USSR and Communist China destroying Churches?

. .
The problem with you believers is that you deny any wrong doing in relation to your religion.
No absolutely not i.e many religious people are missguided and cruel it doesn't mean God told them to do so and weren't they racists ?

There are ways to explode tho.
Some blow themselves up with explosives while shouting Jesus Akbar. Some take a gun and go to school or if too old for school then go to a club and start shooting till they get shot themselves. Some would run their vehicles in crowd and killing as many as possible. Different pit pi the same coin.

Source? PS China never had churches. All missionaries who attempted to spread religion in China were killed. Same happened in Japan.
Why Moscow's most iconic church used to be a swimming pool
The Soviets blew up Moscow's once majestic Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Now, its golden cupolas shine again in Moscow. Along the way, it was a site for prestigious communist projects - like a massive swimming pool.

  • HOW CHURCHES IN THE SOVIET UNION WERE DESECRATED AND REPURPOSED
    Rising up from ruins
Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior wasn't the only church to suffer at the hands of the communists. Just as it did, some of the city's other churches were restored to their grandeur after the Soviet era.

It was the largest church in the orthodox Russian Empire. Following its construction in 1883, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior was a symbol for the close connection between church and state in the empire.

But just 34 years after its sanctification, the Soviets took power during the October Revolution of 1917. "Religion is the opium of the masses" then became the guiding principle in Lenin's politics of culture. The Soviets acted quickly: Nearly all churches were closed down, church property was confiscated and thousands of clergy members were shot. All of it was a matter of course for the new communist state.

The new model for society - which left no place for religion - was also to be reflected in architecture. More and more churches gained a secular function: They were transformed into storage spaces, movie theaters, libraries and residential homes.

Soviet megalomania

The Soviets confiscated relics and Icons in churches

The old Cathedral of Christ the Savior was 103 meters (338 feet) tall - its magnificent cupolas visible from the Kremlin. But this prominent location would also become a curse in 1931. Joseph Stalin was floating the idea of using the prime piece of property for a prestigious project: A Soviet palace was to replace the cathedral, complete with a statue of Lenin crowning the top of the 415-meter building.

The conspicuous monument was to represent this new communist society. Thus, the Soviets blew up the cathedral in 1931. In was no major loss in the eyes of those in power at the time.

When plans fall through

Higher than the Empire State Building: the planned Soviet palace

But the construction project was never completed. It came to an end when German armed forces attacked the Soviet Union in 1941. The largest building in the world to commemorate communism remained a mere idea - with nothing more than a drab gray foundation bearing witness to the project.

Years later, another construction project managed to set a record: The largest swimming pool in the USSR was built, measuring twice the size of a soccer field.

The water was heated throughout the year, making it possible to swim here on the coldest days of winter. The warm water plunged the plot of land, on which the cathedral once stood, into a densely foggy landscape. During the summer, the swimming pool was a popular meeting point for thousands of people in Moscow's inner city.

Acres of swimming options in the middle of the city

Nowadays, many Moscow residents have mixed feelings when recalling the huge swimming pool located at the cathedral site. On the one hand, they have fond memories of learning to swim there, or training for swimming competitions, or simply meeting friends. On the other hand, some of them are nearly ashamed for having once relaxed in the waters of the "Moskva" pool - at a formerly sanctified spot.

A gradual religious revival

The Soviet plan could not compete. Religion could not be kept at bay for Russian society. As the strict religious politics loosened their grip toward the end of the Soviet Union in the 1980s, Christian communities seized their chance. They began restoring churches across the country and religious services were held again.

Since the end of the Soviet regime in 1990, orthodox Christianity is no longer viewed as an enemy of the state. On the contrary. The Russian Orthodox Church now plays a decisive role in Russia's national consciousness.

In the search for a new identity, the Russian state under Vladimir Putin is recalling its pre-revolutionary past. Symbols from tsarist Russia are experiencing a revival. Christian values are highly praised and a majority of Russians consider themselves religious. The Kremlin is able to wield religion as an instrument for tradition-conscious patriotism.

The Russian Orthodox Church has benefitted the most from this development - with state money used to restore or rebuild churches.

Disneyland or a symbol?

Vladimir Putin had words to share with Patriarch Kirill, head of the Russian Orthodox Church

However, the construction of the new Cathedral of Christ the Savior was financed through donations, with the project costing some $170 million. It took five years to rebuild, but then, it could shine again in all its majesty - at the spot where Stalin ordered the original one to be blown up. Patriarch Alexy II, then head of the Russian Orthodox Church, sanctified it in 2000. It was a perfect replica of the beautiful old cathedral.

Some critics see some elements of Disneyland in its architecture - a shiny surface with no substance. But for many Russians, today's Cathedral of Christ the Savior is a grand symbol for the fact that religion once again holds an important place in Russian society.
