India is WIP, even if there remain one person without access to proper sanitation or clean water its shameful. Though in recent years I have seen changes by myself, I come from a small town of central india in state of C.G, and as growing up I have seen people openly defecating, but in recent years our district has achieved 100% sanitation with access to toilets, clean water, garbage disposal etc... you can check data by yourself in nic.gov.in.

It's okay to shame and troll if government is seeing this and not working toward upliftment, but that's not the case here government of india is working hard to eradicate this by providing and motivating people towards using clean practices.

Do try to tell the truth to them... they won't believe it as it does not suits their propaganda...

Today, people are coming back to live in village as all the facilities are available in my village... and it just take 10 minutes to reach the border of CITY... now they don't want to live in nests when entire yard is available to play...

I think you also missed 100%... these facilities were always their but not 100% of villagers were having access to them... electric supply was rotation (day/night) just for 6 to 8 hrs... people were using "dori" to access electricity poles which were not there in the entire village... now even single house in field has electricity...

China’s is hoping to lose its image as a sometimes unhygienic country in a widely publicized “toilet revolution“, but it may all be for nothing. Last week, people in two different cases ignored bathrooms to answer nature’s call in some very public places.

On the morning of May 9, an unidentified middle-aged woman was caught on camera defecating in full view by a train station in Dalian, Liaoning.

A 1:16-minute long video of the incident (shown below) shows the woman squatting in front of a the entrance to a food court, unhurriedly grinding out brown fiber sausages without the mind to look around to see if anyone was watching (seen below).

While some Chinese media have said pedestrians were “shocked” by the woman’s brazenness, the video shows about eight people walking past her without one of them giving her a second look.

And even if the camera didn’t capture the gasps of offended pearl-clutchers just out of view, the woman herself displays a nonchalance towards public defecation that shows no shame. After wiping herself and hiking up her pants, the woman doesn’t furtively sneak away from the evidence of her disgrace; instead, she waits to be handed a plastic bag that she can use to conceal her public transgression.

The next day on the other side of the country, it happened again on a bus in Kunming.

A male commuter is seen on the bus’ suveillance camera rocking back and forth in apparent discomfort, continually touching his belly. When the bus pulls into the terminal station and most everyone disembarks, the reason becomes clear: the man had surreptitiously pulled his pants down slightly and pushed out of his butt the biological remains of what was bothering him (seen below).

As new passengers filed onto the bus, each did their best to ignore the intruder in their midst as they each tried to make it to work on time.

Kunming bus driver Zhu Lingmei told a television news reporter that she had “never seen anything like this before in her life.”

Couple of things. Numbers you quoted are a little dated. Things are improving rapidly. The first phase of getting people to implement toilets in their houses is resulting in increased sanitation installations. The next phase is to make it accessible to everybody. Having said that, we are a decade away from visible changes, which will need a re-education program.

Only 44 percent Kasmir have access to toilet...they openly defacate side of the rivers flowing to Pakistan and Pakistani people use it as there drinking water source....sad...
