But then gold will lose its value due to its rarity and thus make no one rich

You just blab all of this, instead of actually practicing what you preach.

Are you ready to start or participate in a progressive movement instead of criticising my ideas ?? You can start a Canadian branch of the Aam Aadmi Party or the Swaraj Abhiyan movement.

Like I said before, I almost create an employee union in 2014.

And before that I was a participant in the World Jamahiriya Movement which had a few people in a few countries and these people desired to propagate the Jamahiriya ideology in their lands.

So I have done a little walking to my talking.

Starting/joining things is fine and all....but I'm saying voluntarily giving away all your wealth+time, except that which you need to survive on (and you posting on internet here shows you have plenty left to give away right?)

It makes much more sense rather than pressing for govt to force others to do so by barrel of the gun essentially.

Free will + personal credible socialism has long existed and is very crucial part of human history....it is known as charity.

The problem is when you do not make it free will and you make it for others before yourself. That is the current guise of socialism and communism....they just inevitably latch onto the worst excesses of human ego....and become an authoritarianism.....because people inherently do not find the concept to be credible.

This asteroid is very good news for humanity as it means that there is an almost unlimited quantity of resources in our solar system for mankind to exploit.

I am sure that in 50 years time, asteroid mining will become similar to very deep mines on earth. When the need is there mankind is capable of amazing things like the first manned moon mission back in 1969.

No, what I meant was what is the "transportation" in that line ??

After BS civil engineering , you get option to study your PG in different fields (that orginate from civil engineering), like

Ms geotech engineering
Ms structure engineering
Ms water resources engineering
Ms construction engineerig and management
Ms town town planning
Ms civil engineering
Ms transportation engineering
Ms wind engineerig (not offered in Pak/india yet).
Ms ice engineering (not offered in pak/india yet).

And many mores.

Supply and demand if such a huge amount of gold is available it will lose its value

That will defeat the purpose of Gold... Gold is Gold thx to it's inner properties AND limited stock...
Though I wouldnt mind gold platting my car once its like 10 dollars a kilo :D

Charity can do only so much.

Can charity take care of each and every want in some country ??

No.

Many times on this forum's pages there loads request-ads for the Ketto organisation asking people for charity money to pay for some youngster's medical problems. The amount goes into lakhs. This should be the government's job.

You live in Canada. Don't you know about the Occupy protests that took place there in 2011 other than in the other Anglo countries ?? Did you try to understand what that movement wanted ??

Indians aren't socialist by nature.

I agree. And that is the reason that despite so many wants and atrocities here, the people don't rise up in revolution.

People who sleep hungry in villages often have gold hidden in their suitcases.

I don't agree. Maybe many people hoard jewellery to give as dowry but I don't think they hide gold even when banks and private money lenders harass them over farm loans.

No.

Charity is genuine and full democratic expression of free will. Do you want to part with what belongs to you....by giving it to another...for nothing in return? Morally and ethically, only free will satisfies such an exchange. When its for something in return, thats the free market, also moral and ethical.

Without free will for this, the argument of theft and coercion enters the picture.

No its not the govts job. If the govt can generate wealth (by itself) and was a independent entity, then sure. But the govt takes money from its people. It should thus be limited as to what its role even is (i.e stuff the people cannot address in any way like national security, courts and administration), given it takes this money by simply having a big gun to point at all its people.

Movements like I said can blab and do whatever they want to as long as its within the law. They can raise their own monies and spend them within the law to promote their message under free speech (the latter which you lefties ABSOLUTELY hate).

What they can't do is take money by force from whomever passing by by just having enough brawn.

That is essentially what socialism does on a vast scale (using the govt/dictator mechanism)...it goes well past the logical inherent reason and function of having a govt....and promotes authoritarianism (the absolute form being communism) and elitist "greater good" argument for it.

I was talking about labourers who work on other's farms. Say, a guy from UP working in a Punjabi farm. These people aren't that poor.

Farmers with small land holdings will have a problem making enough money. That's a problem of overpopulation and land fragmentation. What can the government do for them aside from diverting tax money which could have been better utilised?
The basic problem is - we don't need that many farmers.

Let's hear your solution. Who do you want to be taxed more to fund your largesse?

Sorry but they wouldn't have gold if they had to migrate to other states to work as laborers. They would have set up some small business like a kirana shop in their village / town / state.

What I am proposing is :

1. In older / present cities and towns, Urban Farms and 5-storey automated Vertical Farms need to be set up at neighborhood-level and most of the residents should be trained in the farm operations. These farms should be operated on collective lines and maintained on turn-by-turn basis. This way a lot of pollution can be removed from the ecosystem because a city or town will be mostly self-sufficient in food crops and food stuff and need not import them from other towns and villages.

2. Rural areas need to be urbanised. A town needs to be built and the residents of say ten villages should be transferred to the town. Again, at neighborhood-level, Urban Farms and 5-storey Vertical Farms need to be created and many of the residents need to be trained in automated farm operations in the Vertical Farms. These farms should be operated on collective lines and maintained on turn-by-turn basis. The town can also contain other industries. The side effect here is that regressive village life is removed and cosmopolitan city life is adopted.

3. Technologies like drip irrigation and large-diameter water pipelines ( like in pre-2011 Libya ) should be adopted.

This way there will be no professional farmers who are burdened to carry out a difficult profession. What agriculture in India ( and elsewhere ) requires is a radical reform. In Venezuela, Urban Farming is being implemented, and in USA there are Urban Farming experiments.

What we need is a scientific approach in the field of agriculture.

It makes much more sense rather than pressing for govt to force others to do so by barrel of the gun essentially.

Not every revolution happens via a gun barrel. For example, the Libyan September the 1st Revolution in 1969.

Charity is genuine and full democratic expression of free will. Do you want to part with what belongs to you....by giving it to another...for nothing in return? Morally and ethically, only free will satisfies such an exchange.

This morning two young men came to my house, asking for donation for a children's cause and all. They said they don't accept cash, they accept online transfer and they had an ID card. Though I wanted to contribute I had to tell them that I don't have the money to do so.

These youth will never never be able to help every needy child because as I said earlier, charity can only do so much.

That is why I say that things like education and medical care should be the duty of a welfare-based system.

Movements like I said can blab and do whatever they want to as long as its within the law.

I again ask you to join the Occupy movement and participate while being well within law.

Nothing wrong with being a professional farmer. But only if you have large amount of land and deep pockets. It works reasonably well in the US.

Modernisation of agriculture is a must, and it is up to the government to divert funds for that. Or for private players to consolidate land. Drip irrigation is an excellent idea, and in use in plenty of places. Education regarding this is a must.

Your city farming idea is not workable. Land in cities is very costly. And farming requires a large amount of land. Vertical farming won't reduce the cost that much, either.

Another point you missed - India does have free(tax paid) education and healthcare. It is just not very good. Parties like AAP have improved both these sectors with a very high % fund allocation. But that can work only in rich cities like Delhi or other metros(since they are rich). But this reduces the pace of creation of infrastructure like roads.

Socialist programs need a constant source of funds from outside. But you can't milk the cow(capitalists) so much that they have no incentive to work.
